I think PIF would want to hang on to him for as long as possible given the profile he gives the club.  I think the only way Isak leaves is if he himself agitates for a move.

Globally, fans around the world will latch on to a player before a team. We’ve heard it all before with Shearer, I’m sure we’ve all been away and met people who started following NUFC because of him. It’s the same with Haaland and it will be the same with Isak, you need a transcendent player like that if you want to make your mark globally.

If just about any other striker was in their box when Murphy went for the header, we might not have won it. Players like Isak wins trophies, and are difference makes in the biggest games. That's why the best are twice as expensive as the second best.

I would love to keep him, even if it means turning down massive bids. For example Liverpool turned down £300m for a 31 year old Salah, and they've basically won the league with him breaking records. Turning down £300m would be too extreme in our situation, but you get the point. Pretty sure Isak will stay anyways.

Clubs need to be brands nowadays and the easiest/quickest way to build a brand is to have world class players.

PSG is a great example. Hoovering up talent like Neymar, Messi, Mbappe helped them become a massive brand off it. Juve tried similar when they brought Ronaldo in.

However both of those examples also show how hard it is to thread the needle between on pitch and off pitch needs.

Isak is not in that echelon of player yet, but one day soon he will be. Is the short term PSR benefit of selling him going to outweigh the halo effect he’ll have on Newcastle United from a commercial POV?

I doubt it, and the noises from the club suggest they do too.

Just seen the interview with him in Swedish. No matter what happens (I don’t think he will want to leave) I have to say that I admire the way he conducts himself. Humble and professional and says that he enjoys his time at at the Toon incredibly well.

Hypothetically speaking, even IF he wanted to leave I admire that he isn’t like many others who kind of just add fuel to the rumours. Don’t see him leaving!

He's a classy guy.

Even when we were in for him at Sociedad I remember reading that he was quite calm about things and would be happy to stay if a deal couldn't be agreed/finalised.

I said before the final that any player who wins us a trophy has earned their right to leave when they want to, provided the finances are right for us.

I don't think for a second Isak is going anywhere though.

Absolutely, I think it's all down to the club. If they don't accept a bid, he won't be unhappy. If they accept a crazy bid, then he goes. I think the asking price will be too high for the interested clubs.

Totally expect him to be scoring for fun for us next season (with even more talent added to the squad).

If it's true that we can finally spend some money again, that's a good reason for players to stay for atleast another season. Obviously also means that we're not desperate for money either.

Alexander Isak on his future:

“There’s not much to say, really. I’ve commented on my situation and my security in Newcastle several times.

"It’s been written how much I love the city and the club, how well I feel there. I’m not thinking about the future."

"I just want to perform for Newcastle. Now we won the cup, but we want to finish strong and reach the Champions League games. That’s where my focus lies.”

“Things like that can’t be described. I think you can only 'imagine' how it feels. But it’s an incredible feeling.

"Wembley packed with all the Newcastle fans there. I’m looking forward to seeing what Newcastle is like as a city after that. I haven’t been back yet.”

Not a chance he leaves if we get CL and significantly bolster the squad. If we get Europa league and bolster the squad he probably still stays but being out of the CL does increase the chances of him going imo. Hes that good though he’s almost pricing himself out of a move particularly with 3 years left. I almost wouldn’t be surprised that the next club he goes to is Real Madrid or something.

"Eyeing the exit door" is something that we've been hearing every window since 2022.[emoji38] They all desperately want out, but yet they keep staying.
