I find grown men booing a bit odd, but if that's how people feel let them crack on. That said, the way this country encourages and celebrates grotesque wealth, whist happily seeing the most vulnerable in society suffer is nothing to be proud of. I wouldn't be clapping if it is an applause, though. Booing is for pantomimes and really bad musicals. The anthem is a right old load of shite, mind. A tiresome dirge and completely inappropriate as an anthem. Jerusalem all the way for me; it is the only national song which can be sung at Labour Party Conference and the Last Night of the Proms (AKA the Tory Party Karaoke). Land of Hope and Glory can fuck right off mind; right old load of imperialist shite. A national anthem should celebrate what it means to be British (or English for that matter), not glorify the unearned birthright of our head of state.
