Think they wanted a keeper that is accustomed to being higher up the pitch and quick off their line. Pope has been fantastic at that. Yeah, he's been at both Man City and Liverpool and so does have talent. That was a shocking night for him. Wouldn't have wished that on anyone really. Never seen Gillespie play to know if he's any good but would rather have Karius as a backup regardless. I believe after he was shipped out of Liverpool. Luckily for us he probably will never play here. With Darlow out for now it makes sense however. Seems like he was mentally broken after that game and things have just been getting progressively worse for him.
