Other games (2024/25)

Milan are a weird team like. Even within this season they've flipped from being a defensive shambles to then putting together runs of ridiculously solid defensive performances (1 goal conceded in 4 games Vs Spurs and Napoli to get here).

They do massively rely on their two best players in Maignan and Leao, the latter of which is a big miss tonight. But I said when they did a number in Napoli it was a huge loss for the competition and it feels like this semi is proving it the case (as much as I'm thoroughly enjoying the overall spectacle and atmosphere).

Genuinely think we could do either of these two. The quality has been so poor.

Both of these sides have a lower position in the table to NUFC in an inferior league, it is not really a surprise that they are poor. Serie A is poor this year outside of Napoli, tbh, but these two have had luck with the draw and strong performances when it has counted.

Mike Maniac has turned it round after a dodgy first half. Would hate to watch him every week though, be heart attacks all over the east stand.

Don't watch too much CL or EL at all until the latter stages but that'll change next season *touch wood*. Hope the coverage isn't this lifting but I won't hold my breath. BT have the rights to every Serie A match with journalists specialised in Italian football doing the punditry; think they also have European football journalists as the pundits on their CL/EL goals roundup shows but they stick with that triumvirate of doom on commentary and four horsemen of the apocalypse on punditry for an all Italian CL semi final. So shit.

Personally prefer a one sided final to unbalanced two-legged semi finals. Anything can happen in a one off final on neutral ground - so at least there is potential for chaos factor or a shock. Both of these semis should have been well matched - Milan have just been dreadful.

Both Milan teams have had luck with that side of the draw but equally a lot of big teams in Europe have just been shite this season IMO. Inter deservedly put out Barca in the group stages. La Liga and Bundesliga teams have not contributed well to the tournament. Two of the PL teams in Spurs and Chelsea have been really poor all season and their league form was reflected in this competition too - particularly Spurs.

I always found it both irritating and funny to watch PFMs doing European football punditry.

They’re paid exorbitant sums to watch football and talk shite about it for literally minutes every so often - yet their knowledge of anything outside of England is minimal.  And if we were talking about the Maltese third division, I’d think ‘fair enough’.  But I know they’ll watch an all-Milanese CL semi and still be unsure about many of the players on the pitch.  They’re paid to watch football and talk about it - and even watching football is apparently just too great a burden.

I really enjoyed that game. Glad I didn't watch it and read on here, sure some just love to fucking moan on. ?

I much preferred it to last night's game

But then I happily go and watch the Northern League on the regular so I don't think pure technical quality is the only thing I'm looking for from my footy fix.

Good man. I was swept up in the atmosphere watching with a lad who doesn't do football and he couldn't rake his eyes off it. He loved every minute and was nice to see.

I also had dzeko 2-2 on as well, so added spice.
