Crazy what a difference a week makes.

Pessimism gone to optimism with us.

Villa seeming to have hit a massive rock with a few defeats. Will their season faulter like ours did last season?

This new Champions League format is shite. I’ve tried to enjoy it but still can’t accept that everyone plays in the same league but you all play different teams.

It also just majorly benefits the bigger teams, of course.

Do those dropping out at this stage go into the Europa League still?

Hopefully if their season does go tits up it helps forge a strong alliance between us and them as challenger clubs getting fucked over by the Sky Six's system.

Not sure I agree. I hated it at first but as the week go on I’m growing fond of it. Look at the top 8, Liverpool and City aside there’s a great mix of second tier teams.

If the likes of Madrid and PSG don’t make it through the league I’d be amazed if it doesn’t get scrapped next year to protect them.

Yeah, it's been good I think.

More of a challenge for the big teams, as they can't just coast through in some pitiful group. Madrid and Bayern are well down the table at the minute.

Also think there's been more interesting matches to watch with each round of games.

Just seen the Mings penalty incident, that a bit ridiculous like, surely a bit of common sense needs to be applied in a situation like that.

There are certainly more interesting matches every round but it still feels like the results don't really matter. Last rounds should be different but I'm firmly in the team meh when we are not participating compared to groups of four teams.

Ridiculous penalty for Inter, what is Merino supposed to do?

Unnatural position innit ? I'd be claiming it for us and thinking we'd got away with one the other way round.

It really isn't, he's trying to play the ball with his feet. Ball would have rolled to Raya but because it happened to hit Merino's hand Inter are gifted a penalty. Rules are shambles.

I'm with you. Was willing to give it a chance but now think it's basically become a tedious procession, with little weight being given to games that should be heavyweight clashes.

Inter have rested 4-5 of their best players tonight because the league game at the weekend is bigger, and they know they're probably already through this early on. The new format has reduced the jeopardy rather than increase it.

It really is. Look how high his arm is. It's not deliberate but it doesn't ha e to be.

Villa at Liverpool this weekend as well so likely another defeat for them.

Hope Villa somehow batter Liverpool, otherwise they could run away with the league this season. Doubt it though.
