I was thinking about this, it's been a really competitive season, in that the middle of the field has gotten a load stronger, so their a lot less shit mediocre teams, where any team can beat anyone, with teams like Man City and Arsenal getting beat way more often, which you'd think would make things more dramatic, but it's actually done the opposite as all it's meant is that Liverpool have just had to be consistent week in week out and it's been a cake walk, while teams that come up just can't compete, as their base is so much lower than everyone else, so they're way off it.

So despite it being more competitive it's weirdly made the season more dull, and effectively over with 4 games left.

OK , I see what you are saying.

But I don't really care if the title race between Man City and Liverpool or Arsenal is going down to the wire.

And I don't really care about the relegation scrap that much.

I would care about both of those things a lot more if my club was in the conversation.

The battle for the Champions League and Europe has been great. And I'd think that the fans of those "mediocre teams" are still excited about this season as well.

Liverpool has been the best team this season and they've consistently beaten those mediocre teams.

For me, the figures who are driving this narrative about the league being poor are the Man United, Sours, Chelsea, Man City, and Arsenal fans / pundits who feel let down by their clubs' "poor performances". Fact is, they just got their asses handed to them by Forest, Bournemouth, Palace, or Wolves. Good.

The closing of the gap between the midtable and the cartel makes this a great season. And seeing Man United and Spurs near the bottom of the table is far better than watching a title fight between Liverpool, Arse and City go down to the last week of the season.

Can't help but feel that most of the noise about it being an easy win for Liverpool and worst season ever is coming from the likes of Man Utd supporters as they lick their lower half wounds.

Not from any fans I've spoken to. It hurts, sure, but they've won it because they're the best side. I've always maintained you are where you deserve to be after 38 games.

It does not get spoken about as much as it should, but Liverpool as a club, team and fanbase endorsed racism as recently as 2012. They’re in love with their past so I’m not sure why this subject is one they don’t like to delve into too deeply. But I remember it and it was shameful.

Don't think anyone's disputing that they've been the best team, it's whether the standard needed to win is lower than usual. Imo it is without question.

If watching Liverpool and watching the rest of the teams in the league doesn't immediately make it obvious how lower the standards are this season then looking at the table and seeing that the team at the top has won it on 82 points with 4 games left might do it.

I include us in that btw, we had a shocking summer, started with poor performances, were inconsistent for ages and we're sat in 3rd, it's mad.

Eh? Surely a team getting near 100 points is more indicative of a farmers league. The fact that there’s almost nothing in it from second to about tenth, shows how competitive the league has been this season.

Apart from the three promoted teams being so far off it, I think this year has shown the league to be in great health. Think back to the 90’s and early 2000’s what points totals did the champions have those years? This 100 points lark is a relatively recent phenomenon and indicative of the bulk of the league being miles off it

I had this discussion yesterday. The teams from 7th-11th can literally beat anyone on their day. I can’t remember a recent season where that has been the case to the same extent. The league is very strong all the way down to lower mid-table and even Spurs / Man U are both in European semis. It’s a strong league with more dispersion of quality players and managers.

Just seen Gakpo's celebration. I wonder if Alison has baptised him in his pool yet. Weirdos.

Replace Jesus with Joe Hendry

Just been watching some of the incidents from the Copa del Rey - holy shit Jude Bellingham is a complete and utter twat. There's also him just standing there after a misplaced pass rather than trying to correct the error. It's unfortunate he'll potentially be central to the England team for several years. He's deeply unlikeable.

They are a horrible club - the disrespect they showed Rodri to basically threatening the ref prior to the match then during the match

Bellingham is as unlikeable as they come. Can’t remember him being like that before Madrid. Him swearing on the pitch in Spanish is utter cringe.

Hopefully he’ll grow out of it as he’ll be a mainstay in that England team.

Not at all. It isn’t just that the points total is low on its own it's that it's low and that the title has been won with 5 games to go, so not only was a low points total needed to win, but there was also no competition at the top either. There might be good competition from 3rd to 10th but from 1st to 3rd there's none and I don't think the team that won are that good either.

Pretty sure this is the earliest a club has won the PL this century.

The high points seasons here had Liverpool and Man City vying it out and with other teams in the mix too.

Even then I think you only need to watch the football itself, it's miles off it and it's not just limited to English teams, the standard of football has dropped this season imo.
