Was just thinking about that match yesterday in a discussion about Brown Ale. Its synonymous with the smell for me, the brewery nearby, the denizens, the Gallowgate bogs - walking up the steps all carried on a lovely warm pinkening spring evening about to be completely ruined by the football.

It was about my tenth game and at the back of the sparsely populated Gallowgate right next to people setting fires to scarfs and shirts chanting "die United, die United"

I remember Sweeney being ripped to shreds by Jimmy Carter for Millwall in the 90/91 season. Was in the paddock close to it - put you off being a footballer being on the recieving end of that. Was the worst one on one mauling I'd seen until Ginola v Cox.

Im sure that was the time John Hall was making a play for the club and hence the reason for the protest? Anyway, give me a standing in that packed out Gallowgate to any of this sitting down nonsense. Beautifully tribal.

Interesting interview with Palmer from the weekend. Basically saying he can shoot without pain for the first time in months.

Makes you wonder how many players are playing through injury, particularly at this stage of the season.

Fucking hell man, can we please get this shitshow of a season over first before we think of the next 1. My nerves are shot.

He could at least try to spell her name correctly every time he types it. It's only 3 letter for goodness sake!

The fact this question is being asked at all tells you a lot about the quality of this season imo.

3 points between 6th and 11th with 6 games left is crazy and telling about the amount of inconsistent teams there have been this season. We shouldn't have had as poor season as we've had and still only be 6 points off 6th.

We're about the 10th comment down, which I think is quite telling.

Be somewhat ironic if Leicester ended up staying up because another team got a points deduction.

How can they punishment for financial issues be putting more financial pressure on a club through potential relegation and the catastrophic impacts it causes.

What would be an alternative punishment that is enough of a deterrent to stop clubs breaking the rules?

The grave error of these clubs is that they didn't dope or cheat enough to become a key Premier League brand. Do that and the PL will be more concerned with harming the product and do whatever it takes to avoid proper punishment.

Punish the people breaking the rules not the clubs, its not very sustainable to punish a club to the point where they go out of business.

The EFL was helping them run the club during this time with them having an EFL accountant sat beside them and having to sign everything off.

I’m not sure that’s particularly realistic without government intervention (i.e Abramovich and Chelsea).

It would be a better deterrent than the current system, imagine if that bloke at Sheff Wed was personally responsible for the mess he created ?

Aye, but do you think he would have coughed up for any fine the EFL tried to impose on him? Of course not.

If you could somehow get government onboard so there was actually personal repercussions for not paying any fine, then you might have a chance, otherwise they’re probably just as likely to start asset stripping the club.

Then that is on the EFL for not imposing an owners charter that has financial repercussions for dodgy owners.
