buzza
If we win/draw against Manu it would be a real milestone, for me it would show that we really are in a place to compete for europa league places. If we are lucky enough to keep the squad fit for the majority of games till the world cup break, i really can see a couple of signings coming in in jan and keeping us ticking over in the top seven/eight. Holmesy
The fact we've won games without ASM, Shelvey and Isak in the team bodes well. We've also been carrying Willock for a few games as well, so that would suggest there's a decent amount of room for improvement.
Geogaddi
I don't think we will finish in the top 6 but being honest outside of that the only two teams that come anywhere close to us are West Ham and Brighton, I don't think both will finish above us, 8th is the absolute lowest I think we will finish. We originally gained 2 v Brighton & Man City. Wolves was originally 1 point needed before we got the draw at Brighton. I can't explain it properly but it's right. HaydnNUFC
Just out of interest, checked to see the points totals for each season post-Guardiola for 7th, 6th, 5th and 4th respectively, though the latter 2 will be be out of our reach this season barring an unprecedented implosion at 3 of the big 6. 2016-17 4th: 76pts 5th: 75pts 6th: 69pts 7th: 61pts 2017-18 4th: 75pts 5th: 70pts 6th: 63pts 7th: 54pts 2018-19 4th: 71pts 5th: 70pts 6th: 66pts 7th: 57pts 2019-20 4th: 66pts 5th: 62pts 6th: 59pts 7th: 59pts 2020-21 4th: 67pts 5th: 66pts 6th: 65pts 7th: 62pts 2021-22 4th: 71pts 5th: 69pts 6th: 58pts 7th: 56pts
54
10 games in, average of 1.5 ppg, not bad going for a top 7 finish.

Klaus
Still only lost one game in the league this season. Bloody impressive tbh. We have also matched Man City at home and Liverpool + Man U away. This club is going places. Edited October 16, 2022 by Klaus
BlazeT44
Don't care about PPG or previous seasons or statistics. If you'd have told me after 10 games we'd have been below Man City, Arsenal, Tottenham, Chelsea and Man United we'd have took it. The only question we'd have asked is "Where the fuck are Liverpool?"
ChrisJbarnes
I would expect not many clubs outside the top 6 will get more than 2 points from City (H) Man U (a) and Liverpool (a). Agonisingly close to it be 3 at Liverpool as well.
Mazzy
As much as it's in our own hands and the position we are in now is a good sign of things to come. Alot could rest on how poor Liverpool can be for the rest of the season, if they don't finish in the top 6 (very unlikely) then that's an extra spot up for grabs that we didn't anticipate. nufcjb
The draw today against undoubtedly, a good team in Man Utd, will do our chances no harm to finish 7th. It's games against the likes of Everton that could stop us in our tracks so we'll need to follow up today's draw with nothing than a win on Wednesday, eapecially at home. Stottie
Arguably our best away result under Howe today. The best team we've beaten away under him is (probably) Brentford.
STM
That draw, without several of our best players, tells me that we aren't a flash in the pan. We are tough, stubborn, smart and a bitch to play against. That we keep getting results despite lady luck throwing injuries our way, bodes very well. Probably my biggest takeaway from these first 10 games is exactly that. We are extremely difficult to play against and to beat us requires near maximum effort from any team we face. Can't ask for much more than that I'm such a short space of time.
STM
Target of 1.5 PPG, that draw puts us on exactly 1.5 PPG (15 points divided by 10 games). I think more significantly our likely rivals for 7th are being inconsistent at best. Of course we are assuming Liverpool will revive themselves before the end of the season. Edit: Brighton of course are our biggest contender by far. Edited October 16, 2022 by STM
Lush Vlad
So hard to beat and our shape and defence are drilled to perfection. Weird thing to say after 4-1 and 5-1 wins before today. But I feel we still lack quality in the final third. Especially without the chaos that Maxi causes. I’d like to see us creating more chances and really opening teams up when the situation allows it. And I think we need to on a more consistent basis if we have our eyes on the top 6. Still, so far so good!
Stottie
In ten games so far, we've only played two of the bottom seven. https://www.soccerstats.com/team.asp?league=england&stats=9-newcastle-utd
Geogaddi
7th is the lowest we are finishing , Brighton look a worse team without Potter and West Ham are nothing special, we are better than everyone else, even with all the injuries we have had we are still 6th. HaydnNUFC
We'll likely drop to 7th on Tuesday as Brighton are at home to Forest. But I do think 7th will mainly be contested between us and Brighton depending on how De Zerbi gets them going. 9, maybe 10 or 12 points (as I don't fear anyone at SJP) from our remaining games before the World Cup would be a great return. Players to come back from injury post World Cup and a transfer window coming up, if we're still in touching distance of 6th when that comes round we'll be reet.
