The Europeometer™ (2024/25) - NUFC Qualify for Champions League

Recommended Posts

It's important that if the worst happened and we did lose to Villa, that it doesn't derail us and we get straight back up and beat Ipswich.

But I have way more faith we might do something special away to Villa now. This team is on a mission.

The mentality in this team is growing, it’s really exciting lads. Switch has clicked.

I think the whole vibe of the club has changed. The 70 something year shackles are off. The beast is in the arena. And the best bunch of dudes we’ve ever had are the ones that did it. I think we’re genuinely unstoppable now. Newcastle (A) is something that strikes fear into players and managers alike. It’s different now, and forever.

If we keep the players fit we can easily win all the remaining games, my only worry is that the standard of our play massively dropped when we brought the subs on.

I think j we can qualify for the CL with the home games to be honest. The Villa game is a tough one but the pressure is off us and all on them which plays into our hands. Amy result is on the table on sat but even if we lose we can get back on track v Ipswich. I’m actually not that worried about Brighton away, they were shocking against Leicester the other day. As someone has also mentioned the Arse might be in CL cotton wool mode by the time we play them.

The Villa game comes at a perfect time. We havent had to keep the energy levels up to max for the whole game in the last 3 matches.

Villa should have some tired players after playing twice a week for some time now.

They have all the pressure on them to go out and attack and are very vulnerable to our counterattacks iirc.

Yeah I’m not convinced by their defence

That City v Villa game following us v Villa is handy as fuck as an insurance policy. Means as long as we beat Ipswich at the very least, we're no less than 3 points ahead of one of them with only 4 to play.

Think there’s a fair realism that come Chelsea game, we will be 5 clear of 6th at worse now. Where a victory takes them out of it and requires Villa to be flawless in their final 4 games to overtake us.

Draw with Villa, beat Ipswich, it’s ours IMO.

Wouldn’t it be 4? 5 points at the minute, we lose, they both win then down to 2 points. Then we win and they draw and it’s back to 4, one loses and it’s 5?

Anyhow, i think target should be in mind to beat Villa and Ipswich and then we are effectively home and hosed if Chelsea / Man City drop points in next two games as well

edit - just realised city have a point more than Chelsea and Villa. Ignore first paragraph

You are in CL. And so is Man City. The race is for the fifth place (for me Forest).

I was confident of at least 18 points from our last 10 fixtures based on how we've finished each of our seasons with Howe at the helm. Didn't expect to have 12 of those points at this stage, mind.

I want 30 points from 10 now.

This April seems very reminiscent of April 2023 when we just turned it up a notch, scoring goals for fun at West Ham & Everton then dismantling Spurs at home in 20 minutes.

A 0-3 defeat at Villa was sandwiched in the middle to be fair, but we still bounced back the week later against Spurs.

A defeat this weekend - despite how bad it will feel at the time - is definitely not the end of the world. We've built ourselves a little cushion. I actually think we get a draw on Saturday and we win all our home games. Should be more than enough given we have the buffer of finishing 5th.

Aim high now - hunt down Arsenal. If we finish 2nd and win a trophy there's a massive argument that it's the greatest season in our history, given the competition these days. Even if we get Champions League football and a trophy there's definitely an argument.

66pts should do it. That's for 5th of course, I think we'll get 3rd with 69pts.

The 71pts from 22/23 season is still possible but I think it'll be just out of reach for us.

I'm telling you man. We are winners. Get us a couple more and we can win the league.

Or at least do what Villa have done in the CL. We'd beat this version of Real Madrid IMO. Too lazy, open and disjointed for us.

I think 71 is absolutely in reach. We by rights should be winning our three home games, and then we'd just need to win one of our away games. We've got a good record against Villa, Brighton seem to have lost their form (and they've been a very streaky team this season I think) and we've played Arsenal three times this season, winning all three without conceding. Obviously, all three games the home teams will probably be favourite, but over the course of them I think we should win one. We've only lost 5 away games all season.

I think 66 will cut it fine and would represent an underperformance for the rest of the season imo.
