Hope we can still get into Europa or the CL. Not really fond of the Conference League as a competition, think it lacks prestige for the number of extra games it’s going to give us

Good place to blood younger players coming through though, which we’re going to have a fair few of going into next season

Very true. Hopefully the squad is much bigger next season also

Really really want the CL but if we do end up in the Europa League or the Conference then we'll win either of them imo. The Cup win yesterday was the first and hardest one to win, now that's done we can move forward and deal with any club on this level, we'll have the odd hiccup but over 2 legs we'll put 98% of European teams away

Conference League is the best thing UEFA has done in ages, I absolutely love it. But saying that, you're right, we don't sign Tonali if we're in the Conference League that season, getting Champions League would be absolutely huge for the club.

One other thing with being in the conference league: it does give the club, and particularly management, more experience of dealing with the extra european workload over a season. Eddie's only had one 6 game European run in his career. Given how it looks like our previous finals experience helped us a lot with the League cup this year, just getting the extra experience would be a good thing. Whether it would be worth it I dunno, but experience is one thing you can't get for nothing.

Yeah, but it's experience against the likes of Shamrock Rovers and Borac.

True, but it's also experience preparing for premier league games and less familiar foreign teams with limited time and extra travelling and fatigue.

Don't see how it's even up for debate. We don't need to go for "easier cups" now that we have broken that hoodoo.

Get in the champions league and it opens up the opportunity to get Tonali, Isak level players again, plus keeping the ones we have. All the while building the revenue streams and growing the global reputation.

In no way will I be gutted if we miss out. But being greedy, I want the boys to go all out in this last ten as we have a great chance of securing top 5 again.

Europa League, the Conference League would be more comparative to the Cup Winners Cup.

Theres an argument, certainly from the 80s that the UEFA was harder to win as it had multiple teams from strong leagues. Some of Liverpools/forests runs to the final were very kind on paper.

Definitely want CL now and I don't see how there could be an argument any other way. We have won a cup so don't need the EL or ECL to enhance our prospects of winning one going forward, the money the CL generates will help us grow, the new format should see us progress to the knockouts, more chance of Isak and co staying, more money to buy better players, not having to do the Thursday/Sunday gig a ridiculous amount per season.

It is nice to know that we are in Europe no matter what, but I really hope it is the big one!

Remember there is a play-off round before you reach the League Status in the Conference League…..Therefore always a risk that you bugger it up and don’t reach the League Rounds….Would prefer Europa or CL as you know for definite that you are involved in the League set up.

This is it for me. Its a lot easier to convince players to stay and elite players to come if we're in the CL.

The Europa League is the competition I most want us to win, but qualifying for the CL this season could really be transformational.

Agree with you all that the Champions League gives us the best chance to keep our top players, but I’m not worried about them leaving at all. They were all just part of something incredible and there’s no way any of them want to leave this team right now.

Happy to fall back into the Europa League if we just miss out on the top 5 as I really think we win that competition next year if we’re in it. I’ve got a taste for trophies now and the Europa (along with the Conference) is the best chance for another one when it comes to European prizes

After we missed out on Conference last year, we were going on about how we didn't even want to be in it anyways. Now we even have our trophy. I don't see why we would want it more this time around.

Everyone would prefer to have (A) The CL, then (B) Europa.

But it's nice just knowing that IF in the unlikely event we don't qualify for either, we have the opportunity to add to our massive cup collection. :bluestar:
