The Europeometer™ (2024/25) - NUFC Qualify for Conference League (at least)

Recommended Posts

Using realism rather than reading around here, a defeat was expected.

But the manner of it (early shots, Gordon error) hurts, as does every other AVL/CHE score once again going badly.

I dunno, I'm feeling 60/40 that we'll make it.

But I don't even think we're one of the country's best five teams tbh.

Is that Europa League pretty much confirmed? Unless we get battered by Everton?

Yes, extremely likely. If Chelsea lose by 1, we can still lose by 3, if Chelsea lose by 2, we can lose by 4 and so on, so at least it's something that goal difference was still intact.

I wouldn't say it was expected - not at all.  And tbh if we'd took our chances we would be deserved winners - what's frustrating is we didn't take them and knowing if we had our best player on the pitch we most likely would have won that game.  Bar a couple of shots Pope had very little to do - the fact Raya got MOTM says it all.

Trophy and third or fourth with one to play, which is Everton home. I would have snapped your hand off for this at Christmas, never mind when the season started.

Just to remind everyone, but we've not bought a first teamer for three transfer windows. PSR meant the wild crazy dribbling kid we had who scored in the CL had to be sold.

Am I right in thinking that unless Everton batter us, we’re guaranteed to finish above at least one of Forest or Chelsea, so basically the task is equal villa’s result?

Someone tells you in August 2024, we'll win a trophy and play Everton at home to guarantee Champions League football, you'd snap their hands off!

We'll win next week. 3-0.

Ok so, if Man United beat Villa we qualify for CL, doesn’t matter about any of the other results.

Not sure I want to risk getting beat off Everton though.

I think you might be right there.

Massive game. Bank holiday, late afternoon kick off, atmosphere needs to be electric like it was at the start of last week.

No nonces wearing dinosaur costumes. All about Newcastle United.

If we don’t win it then we deserve fuck all.

What? We were a stone throw away from being second tonight but you don't think we're better than 5th place?

I know it's fair to need to win the games you need yourself. But christ, other than maybe that Southampton draw Vs Man City and Leicester getting a draw at Forest, it's felt like all other games that has a baring on us have gone the opposite of what we wanted for weeks now.

Fingers crossed for next week. Eddie and the boys deserve CL for the season they have given us and it would be really crushing to fail at the last hurdle.

Yeh it was expected.

All is going as good as we could’ve reasonably expected imo.

Instant beating if they do.

Our last 10 is 7 wins, 2 losses and 1 draw. The points dropped have been away from home. We haven’t lost at home but 2x in the league this calendar year and when we’ve needed a result at home we’ve gotten it done.

Don’t fret too much lads. Focus the energy on backing the team —— in your home, at the pubs, in the stands. Let’s have it next week.
