I think a few of you are just struggling with the transition of becoming a good team. Might just be me but the longer I'm surprised by these results and don't take them for granted the better. This is still the honeymoon period for me, a lot of the people who expect these wins seem like they experience very little joy in their lives as football fans to me. It's either rage or neutral. Well yes, but that's because we've been utterly terrible and are in transition again. Generally speaking, I'm not surprised when we win or lose. The College Dropout Posted yesterday at 11:46 Share Posted yesterday at 11:46 West Ham was a nadir. I never questioned Howe’s job and was left disgusted by some of the responses in here. But it was bad. A few more weeks of those types of performances many would’ve called for Howe’s head. I think Isak picked up a knock and I took him out of my FPL team (worst decision ever). We’d scored something like 12 goals in 12 games. Good performance against Liverpool quickly wiped out by the Brentford game. We’ve been a little fortunate to catch this version of Spurs and Man U. But the turnaround has been magnificent. This is some of the best football I’ve ever seen from us. We’ve never had so much talent in central midfield. The ability on the ball, the athleticism, the character.

alexf Posted yesterday at 12:33 Share Posted yesterday at 12:33 Maybe I am just a pessimist but I prefer not to get too carried away and maybe that's why I don't set expectations too high and so wasn't one of those suggesting the Eddie's time was nearly up. While we have been great on this run we have also rode some luck, whether that be decisions going out way, playing teams like spurs/man U when they are missing key players, playing Arsenal with no Saka, injuries clearing up for us/players staying fit. Etc. etc. We are only an Isak or Tonali injury from potentially dropping back to previous inconsistent form. Unfortunately our first 11 is a match for anyone but beneath that we are lacking. Take Isak out and we are down to Osula or Gordon through the middle which despite him doing a job, is nowhere near Isak levels. We're on a wave at the mo and we need to hope we can sustain and ride it out as long as possible. It's the same for many teams however. Take Salah or VVD out of Liverpool and they would drop a little also.

Their goals were a mishit off the shin, a massive deflection and an extremely harsh penalty. But we got away with murder because a goal was rightly ruled offside? The people thinking it was onside must think AWB had size 15 feet. Anyone who thinks we didn't deserve to win that game, or the FA Cup for that matter, it biased beyond belief or just simply off their rocker. Did you fuck. You were completely outplayed in the second half. I was actually there for the game (mate had a spare going in the Club Wembley bit). You were incredibly fortunate to get to pens. The final is a different matter, mind you. Fully deserved that win

Fully deserved that win They were much better second half aye, but we were lightyears better in the first half and should have been 4 or 5 up. Why are we just picking the bits and pieces that suit the narrative. We fully deserved to win against Liverpool, Coventry and City. Don't make me go all stats nonce to prove the point either. No Rodri has definitely lowered their ceiling, but I basically won’t believe they don’t have a run in them until we get to the last month or so. timeEd32 Posted yesterday at 16:04 Share Posted yesterday at 16:04 Just looked and their fixtures are interesting. They've won two in a row with Brentford and Ipswich away coming up. After that they have Chelsea (h), Arsenal (a), Newcastle (h), Liverpool (h), Spurs (a), Forest (a). It's basically now or never for them.
Sibierski Posted yesterday at 16:20 Share Posted yesterday at 16:20 Man City may click together, it’s Chelsea we need to focus on. We finish above them, we get top 4. Villa are the other team too, but UCL will distract them IMO.

Holloway Posted yesterday at 16:27 Share Posted yesterday at 16:27 I don't think Man city are capable of putting a run together like we're used to seeing, they have been very poor and weak willed, lacking leadership. They're not scaring teams,6th or 7th could be more like it, unless they do some grand business in the window

wormy
Feel for them tbh. I'm sure I've said similar enough times before but I'd much rather they continue to upset the apple cart than fall away and give the usual suspects like Man U and Spurs an easier sleep walk back in to an acceptable league position. ExiledGeordie
Looking at the fixtures, the next four give us a really good opportunity to cement our top top/five challenge (Wolves h, Bournemouth h, Saints a, Fulham h). It’s then a really tough block of four (City a, Forest h, Liverpool a , West Ham a). It’s then an easier block of four on paper (Palace h, Brentford h, Leicester a, Man U a). Sibierski
Next 4 key, but then that would be 9 games won in a row Have we ever done that in the Prem? May drop points in one, but 10 points minimum in next 4 feels key if we are to open up a small gap that we can manage till end of season. Be looking at 14 games left and probably 22-25 points required minimum to get top 6. Which the home games you have to back yourself in with who we got to play to get most of those points (7 games). Say it's 5 wins 2 draws, even that means just 2 away wins in the 7 minimum. Which makes the away games less daunting. Essentially for me from here on to end of season, take advantage of home form. Clean that up (8 wins/2 draws minimum in the 10 left), we get Europe.
