Still utterly convinced we won’t get top 4. Yet I just watched us win 5-1 in about 3rd gear

Fuck you Mike Ashley for fucking breaking my brain.

Above all, what a fantastic group of lads we have giving absolutely everything every week for us. Proud of them no matter what. But let’s do this.

Hadn't even considered the fact that Man U keeping up with us tonight meant cutting Brentford well and truly adrift.

We realistically shouldn't be looking any lower than 6th now. If we do it means we've suffered an absolute capitulation.

Think we'll win at the weekend now like. The momentum is with us. Think it'll buy us one slip up at Villa before we kill off Spurs the game after.

My predictor still has us finishing joint with Spurs and 1pt behind Liverpool but thats with Spurs beating us.

Avoid defeat vs them and I'll start to be confident. Brentford and Villa are two bloody hard away games before then, though. Will take 2pts.

6 wins from the last 10 will do it, and we've still got 5 games left at home out of those 10.

Still would genuinely be happy with Europa League, as absolutely class as the Champions League would be. Unless we absolutely bomb now, top-6 looks a given.

Insane that we have the players in the league with 1) second highest number of big chances created; 2) second highest number of assists per minute played; and 3) second highest number of goals scored per minute played. :lol::lol: What a ride, man. Two of the three above are just hitting their stride too, after coming back from lengthy spells of injury.

70 points was enough for CL last season. 67 in 2020/21, 63 in 19/20.

I reckon we need another 5 wins, 6 to be absolutely sure.

If we win 6 more games, then we’ll be close to having our highest ever points total in the Premier League.

Did you do your predictor in the style of Lawro?

8 wins and a draw would be needed to match out highest points total (78 - 1995/96).

6 wins would match our second highest in the 20 team era (71, 2001/02).  (we got  77/72 in 93-94 and 94-95 when there were 22 teams).

Just a test of ChatGPT, but it says our best totals in PL era are

1995-96: 73 points

2001-02: 71 points

1996-97: 68 points

2002-03: 69 points

Yes, it could be achievable this year. 20 points from 10 games to match the record.

Beat one of Brentford & Villa away.

Beat 3 of Leeds & Everton (A) plus Southampton & Leicester (H)

Beat one of Spurs & Brighton at home.

'Should' be job done.

I forgot Tottenham has such a good start to the season, 5 wins and 2 draws from their first 7 (so would have been a huge 9 points clear of us at that early stage with us only on 8 points), they then lost to Arsenal, but won at Brighton and beat Everton, so after 10 games, they had 7 wins and 23 points (2.3 PPG), which is a fantastic return, but in their last 19 league games they have W8 D3 L8, so only 27 points and a PPG of 1.42 - they got nearly the same points tally in their first 10 than they have in their last 19. They also lost to Forest in the League Cup, Sheff Utd in the FA Cup and limped out of the CL in that same period, so it's been pretty average stuff basically since we beat them in late October.

I'm generally pessimistic when it comes to NUFC, always said I'd be very happy with 6th and never really let myself believe we could get 4th, but if you were looking at it from a neutral perspective then it obviously looks very good for us at the moment. It'll probably come back to bite, but it's sort of the first time that I'm thinking we will get there. A potentially tricky match out of the way last night, just 10 to go, and some winnable games in there.

With GD, which wasn't harmed at all last night, it will possibly just take 16 more points from the last 10 (as long as the GD is at left maintained). 5W and a D, 4W and 4D etc.

We don't need to worry too much about other teams.

We are almost fully fit. In good form. Confidence is high. Creating chances. Scoring goals. Strikers scoring. Keeping it tight.

We just need to maintain down the final stretch.  5-6 wins and keep the losses down to 2 or 3 and we're probably 3rd let alone 4th.

In the last 10 we just need to keep it up like we've done all season.
