Going by this year's teams we'd probably be favourites to win it. A nice European trophy the year after winning the League cup, then we can think about the Champions League. We could really struggle in next seasons Champions League with our lightweight squad. Wheras we'd waltz into the deeper stages of the Conference League as long as Howe takes it seriously. We signed Tonali because we made the CL two seasons ago. Would we have won the league cup without him? Debatable. Whilst you’re right in that in the short-term, the ECL offers the quickest route to another trophy, it doesn’t boost our long term prospects for continually winning trophies the way CL does.
