Keegans Export
We should want to be in Europe every year. If that means the Conference League then so be it. 1. It helps our coefficient, which I believe gives us a higher share of the prize money in future seasons? 2. We have to learn how to manage multiple games a week. We've shown we can't yet do it at Champions League level so trying it a level or two below that is a start. 3. It's a chance to win a trophy. I don't give a fuck what anyone else's opinion of the Conference League is, I've seen us lift one cup and I want more.
Coffee_Johnny
Preseason prediction of when we would be likely to pick-up sufficient points (using PL average points per final position) to finish sixth, based on strength of opposite and whether home or away, looks pretty grim. No surprises there, but we have now fallen below our PL average of 1.40 points per game. The 'shit brown' line I have added to the chart. With 10 games left, we would have to pick-up 26 of the available 30 points in order to reach the average points total for a 6th place finish. So that's not going to happen. 58 points would normally be enough for 7th, even that would require 22 points, so at 2.2 points per game which we may as well also put that in the impossible category too (given best we have ever done over the curse of a season was 2.05 ppg--I am leaving the typo). The coefficient seems to have become incredibly important and sporadic appearances in Europe won't cut it any longer, we need to be in Europe every year possible, I don't think we can be too proud to enter the Conf L as we see it as beneath us, it'll be more games but I think we'd win it each year we took part if need be. It's not a competition that's designed for the likes of NUFC tbph but it's still a chance to win silverware, build the coefficient, develop players, earn money via home games and keep the profile of the club fairly high. I get it's not ideal but this is where we are and it's the hoops we need to jump through so we can close the gap 100%.
Optimistic Nut
Europa Conference is back on the table.
oldtype
Every time we lose it feels like everything is ruined forever. Every time we win it feels like Europe is still on the table. League is so tightly packed.

ChrisJbarnes
Sorry if I've missed something but isn't 7th a potential Europa league spot depending on FA cup winners? We've got a chance of getting Europa League by 1) winning the FA cup- unlikely but possible we could beat city at home and get some kind draws. 2) overhauling a 5 point gap (and goal difference) against Brentford and other contenders. Difficult but not impossible if we happen to be eliminated from the CL and FA cup in the next round which is a possibility. Wed then have sole focus on the league and the team might start stitching together results. After this tough run ending with Barcelona, Arsenal are the only top team we have left, although the West Ham and Forest games will not be easy
Superior Acuña
Im almost definitely unemployed next May (even if I get something else, it’d start later) so would be a crying shame if we’re not in the conference final.

timeEd32
Things would look a lot nicer if we were on 41 with Everton also on 41 and Brentford on 42. Draws in those two games would have seemed disappointing, but not getting them could end up being the difference.
Keefaz
You get Europa League for winning the Cup, so don't know what we're stressing about.
TRC
https://www.worldfootball.net/competition/co91/england-premier-league/standings-calculator/ - have us finishing 8th getting into the conf league. Lose to Chelsea, Arsenal Draw against the Mackems, Forest Beat Palace, Bournemouth, Brighton, West Ham, Fulham. We need to beat Bournemouth and Brighton to finish above them by my calculations. Guillaume
What's the chance 8th could be a Conference League spot? Is going to take 6 wins from 9 to have any chance of 7th, and I can't see that happening. Those losses to Brentford and Everton are going to hurt us even more.

I think it's: If 5th gets champions league spot ( nailed on it will) 6th Qualifies for Europa 7th Qualifies for Europa 8th Qualify for Conference IF Winners of FA Cup finish Top

Keegans Export
What would happen if, for example, Chelsea won the Champions League but finished 6th? Presumably we'd then have six Champions League teams, 7th and 8th would be Europa and 9th would be Conference League? I'd assume the same would hold if Villa won the Europa League but finished outside the top five.
