Last season was Fulham with 45 points. Year before that was Chelsea with 43, and before that Brentford with 43.

CL via 5th should be the aim. Doesn't mean it will happen, or that the season is a failure without it - but it should be the aim

Have always thought, as long as we're in the mix going into May, there's a great chance. Forest and West Ham will probably be solid mind assuming they've both still got everything to play for. Shays Given Tim Flowers
Pretty sure the league season is finished with nothing to play for? N-O clue.
Erikse
Best we can hope for is like 16 points IMO. That puts us at 58. Liverpool and Chelsea only need 10 points to beat that, and that's not much. So even if we go on a run and they are shit, we may still not catch them. I still don't see us getting higher than 7th, even if our form will be great, but 7th wouldn't really be bad all things considered. Guillaume
I'd take 7th, and a European trophy next season.
Superior Acuña
Id be quite happy with 7th. As well as it being Europa (probably) it’s quite a respectable position with how congested it is these days and it matches our 2023/24 finish. The Prophet
Europa League would be good fun. Great experience for lads and Eddie too.
SiLvOR
I'm actually desperate to see us in Europa with Eddie and the boys think we'd win the fucker, and create some more class memories along the way. Get some more European experience as well, rotating fringe players in and all that.

But if we had hung on for 2-2 in both then we’d be 7th and only four back of 5th.
Kilcline
Our problem this season is mainly that we've not beaten all the shite like we usually do. Wolves and West Ham away, Tottenham at home are wins that's 7 points and we're 4th now. Throw in the other points we've chucked away we'd probably be close to Arsenal

I don't believe for one second that the players (bar one or two maybe) would think like that. The fans on the other hand, they'd celebrate a goal against more than a goal for. Holloway
race for 7th definitely on, Everton and Brentford to overhaul as it stands
Abacus
Top 5 looks very unrealistic, but you never know. If we got Europa it might be difficult next season due to playing two games a week again and I don't get the sense that we'll ease off in the domestic cups either. That said even if a Europa campaign had an impact on our league form, it's still another route to CL football itself. So two bites at the cherry meaning I'd bite your hand off for it right now. Conference League? Hmm. Personally, not convinced it would be worth the hassle. In which case I'm not all that fussed about finishing outside 7th, if the trade off for not being in it was a stronger league campaign next season. Dokko
I'm up for any European competition. We'd be favourite for the conference and one of for europa. Squad rotation, natural progression for youth. It's all good. Only thing that isn't is the money, but money isn't a massive issue now. Recruitment is. Can't keep putting all our eggs in expensive baskets. Need to spread it about a bit. Take some gambles abroad. Only replace with big fees if we lose players with big fees.
Yorkie
I can't picture many minutes for academy players in the event we qualify for the Conference League, certainly not if Howe is still the manager (not that I'd blame him or anyone else for choosing not to play kids who aren't ready for first team football). We'd take it seriously because, third-rate competition or not, it's a bona fide trophy and he and the players will want that glory. And if Palace's campaign is anything to go by, if you're not going to be at your best levels, even the fodder can get results with an organised low block. Tbf I'd be a lot more up for it providing Palace don't win; likewise Europa/Villa.

You'd expect starts for them, plus subs for players we've not seen yet. Doesn't have to be fully kitted out youth sides. We'd have seen more of them in the domestic cups if the balls weren't warmed before the draws. Be great to know we can bring on a young FB with 20mins to go as hall or tino are getting tired. The balance of the squad is not there, and this is one way to address it imo.

Hopefully you're right cos it's absolutely crucial the academy steps up and it could be a useful device for aiding that progress. Just dunno if Howe will go for it unless he feels they're definitely good enough.
