The Conference League is only a six-game group stage (because it's aimed at teams without the resources of those in the PL); and would pit us against the likes of Hamrun Spartans and Shkendija, with theoretically tougher ties against the likes of AEK Athens and Sparta Prague. I'm not sure there's any experience to be gleaned from featuring in that tournament that could be applied to a Champions League campaign.

The 6 game thing is kind of negated by all teams playing a 2 legged playoff, so those qualifying would still play 8 matches by the end of the group stage.

I wonder what the club would set prices at for the lesser European games, would be tricky to gage. Anywhere near the champions league prices and there would be empty seats although they have the fear element of missing out on a potential final.

Think we’d do comfortably well in the Europa League. Would absolutely boss the Conference League.

Imagine how empty that would have felt if it was a Conference League league game instead of a Champions League knockout though. Would be a glorified preseason match.

Really hope we get some sort of European football next season. Have loved almost every minute (bar the shit show from Pope in Marseilles) of our European games. Been a welcome relief from league fixtures[emoji38]

You can say this about a lot of things but how different would our season look with a top goalkeeper?

A better keeper probably goes a long way to mitigate the impacts of the huge fall in striker quality.

So what's needed now to try and reach Europe , champions league was dead a few weeks ago but uefa cup must be the aim

Not to go all Howe, but we jusy need to try and put some results together and see where we end up.

More than happy for us to priorities the cups.

Think 10 points in the next 5 before Arsenal away has to be the minimum. That's giving us room for the inevitable Chelsea away league defeat and for one of Man U at home or Palace away to be a draw.

Sunderland has to be 3 points I think for morale.

I think its fair to say we've finally turned the corner, Howe has managed to get a song out of what he has available to him and we look like a decent side again that could beat anyone on our day. We ride the wave and we take each game in our stride and see where we are come the end of the season. There's teams dropping off, teams picking up and teams that are struggling to maintain any momentum. So its hard to gauge, we just have to play our games and see what opens up for us.

7th is achievable. Think we've been alright recently. 6th out of reach imo with our schedule.

Id be happy with 7th and Europa League.

Can't be fucked with the Conference League.

Is 7th not Conference League?

Believing this is a recipe for anguish later down the line imo. That's not me being a doom-monger or knocking the lads (I think they've been fucking incredible since the Brentford game tbh), but I think most of our issues aren't going away despite this mini-resurgence. I still think it'll be choppy between now and the end of the season, and that's okay - it's an absolutely mammoth effort staying competitive on three highly intensive fronts.

That cup draw is so bloody cruel, like.

Yep not too bothered about losing last night, we’re not in the CL race this season and we usually lose there anyway. However, more important than the result was the way we played, we’re beginning to look good again and it’s massive for the rest of this season and next.

Look at some of the teams we’ve played over the past month away… PSG (we were the better team second half), Liverpool better team for the first half and Man City yesterday, where we had the better of the second half. This isn’t luck, it’s the green shoots of a new team and I’m more optimistic than at any other point this season.

Top 5 I believe is pretty nailed on for CL

6th Europa League

7th Conference League because the winner of the Carabao will be in the CL

If winner of the FA Cup is already in Europe then 7th Europa League and 8th Conference league

Yeah. I think the losing finalist no longer qualifies for Europe (may as well devalue it some more), and that spot goes to the league.

Given who is left in the FA Cup, seems most likely that it will be a team from top 7 or us that wins it - I’m expecting 7th is europa.

i think 7th is very achievable even with continued choppy form, just need a small improvement not a total turnaround. I will be happy with that now.
