Hope he doesn't have a daft reaction to today's defeat. Feel like today's result will reverberate throughout much of the team. We need to stick together.

Good lad. Says good things that he was selected to do media after the game.

Although, I'd say the mentality isn't quite right to be talking about trying to get us up there 'with the top teams'. It circles around the issue of us struggling to transition mentally from underdogs to proper contenders. But that's no slight on Gordon right now.

He was class today. Mistake to take him off because he retains possession and moves the ball as well as threatening in attack.

His general use of the ball is so good for our possession, such an underated aspect of his game.

Was a huge loss for us when he went off, but he does play with so much intensity that he was definitely flagging and probably did need replacing.

If this lad didn't score his one on one, wonder how the forum would be feeling towards this guy. Similar to the Almiron thread?

Thing is, Gordon’s in his early 20s and is already looking like a very, very good player. With Almiron we know he’s not the type of player to take us to the next level and is pushing 30.

But he did score though mate

I know the point you're making, but in the Premier League, especially at the top level, it's not about what might have happened. I love Miggy, but Gordon's on a goal and an assist and overall has been involved in a lot of best moments in these first few games.

We're moving away from the days of Ashley whereby the squad was small and we had to embrace the lads faults because it was all about stopping up. We've got huge aspirations and every place higher in the league earns us more dosh and opens up more opportunities for the club.

It's not like say Wilson where he's begging Barnes to play him in. Miggy had three big chances. One was an outrageous save, but the other two have to be seen as poor finishes in the cold light of day.

No, the two are not linked. One player is massively letting us down and performed above expectations.

One almost knocked a satellite out of space I'll admit. Putting it off the post is hardly a poor finish. Jesus, he just missed.

More importantly, not to drag up the Barnes debate up again, but there's more to football than shooting. Taking away his goal, Gordon was far more contributive, varied and threatening in build up play. With Miggy it's the same stuff every time, good and bad, unfortunately.

Today highlighted again how badly we need a left back who can support the left wing.

Against 10 men and with TAA on a yellow we should have been wave after wave down the left side isolating him.

Unfortunately Burn offers no threat to overlap and get forward, so liverpool were able to bring midfield cover to help all 2nd half down that side. They never looked uncomfortable.

Hopefully hall can get up to speed soon and make the LB position his own. Think it will have a huge impact on our attacking capabilities.

Some fucking hilarious comments on GrandOldTeam

"McNeil is just as good as Gordon if not better, is one year older and was half the price of what we sold Gordon for. He scored a goal gifted on a plate to him, chill out."

"He hasn't really become a better player at Newcastle. He just has more room to run with the ball than he did with us and that is making him seem better."

"He's been bang average for Newcastle too but the Skunks want to make a rivalry where every time he kicks a ball forward they'll want to justify the price tag."

Fuck knows what that last one is meant to mean [emoji38]
