It likely isn't his best position compared to the left but I really think he can be effective there for a period.

Looked as if he was sulking a bit when he first got shifted to the right, although I'm sure he wasn't in reality. But looked really up for it today, was superb from start to finish.

Definitely want to see him RW until we are able to address the position with a signing. Ideally in January, but it may have to wait until summer to get the right player.

That said, I think ultimately he'll want to play on the left and you can't blame him at all. Clear path to being an England regular in that position and he's shown that he can get goals and assists from there and it's probably his best position.

He seriously needs to improve his striking. Only part of his game that hasn’t improved since we signed him. Has the occasional good effort, but by large it’s still rushed efforts or poor technique. Hopefully it’s something he can improve because rest of his game is great, and his energy gets him into good areas.

A doubt for England according to Hope.

The only doubt should be whether we call the FA tonight or in the morning, give the lad some rest and away for the warm weather training.

And I say that as someone who looks forward to going to watch England and seeing our lads play!

I thought he was thr one negative today. Didn’t cause any problems right or left and was weak/wasteful with the chances that came his way.

Barnes may not be as good as him. But based on this season. His numbers say otherwise and he has been more effective with the time he’s had on the pitch.

I’m sure he will rediscover his form. But he has had more bad games than good so far.

Thought his tracking back and defensive work was class on the breaks.  Don't see Barnes managing that.

The club should make sure he isn't played in both England matches. Would've been better if he'd withdrawn.

You ever thought the lad might want to play and try and cement an England place?
don’t think him playing and improving form is that bad a thing aswell see the euros u21 tournament the summer before last

I'm sure he does, just like all of the other England players that have withdrawn. These are two meaningless matches before the start of a busy winter schedule. I'd prefer him to rest and not risk injury.
