Lewis Miley: signs six-year contract extension (Official)

Recommended Posts

I don't see how he's improved since he first came into the team - same strengths, same issues.

Petrified of running with the ball or making a progressive pass unless it's on the edge of the area.

Very slow, no acceleration.

He's very young and is big for his age, his sluggishness might be him just growing into his frame.

There's plenty of time but I think he needs a loan to a team at a level where he's going to be one of the better players on the pitch to give him the confidence to play with more incisiveness.

Anderson at Bristol Rovers was the making of him, would be great for Miley to go to a Championship club and tear it up.

Hate to say it, but you are right, he needs a loan.

Young lad, only 19 and composed on ball. Rest will come, just needs to add a bit bite and quicker in attacking

We said the same when he was 17 though and he looks the exact same 2 and a half years later

He has a lot of developing to do, and to an extent I think he's actually regressed in some ways since that Champions League season. My biggest concern with him is that every pass is side to side or backwards, neat and tidy but he seems to have absolutely no desire to take a risk or impose himself on the game. That may come with age, but a lot of the time that mentality is something a player either has or doesn't have.

Ideally needs a loan to the championship or lower PL to get a run in a side and build some confidence.

Saved the game the end with great positioning to block the Harrison cross. Not a standout performance but solid. He’s going to get a lot of minutes this year and hopefully we’ll see him really progress.

Don’t think he’s suited to playing for us at all tbh.

Disagree, he’s 19 and two seasons ago he showed how good he is. His game hasn’t pushed on because he hasn’t had the games and he’s had injuries. He is a very good passer, he reads the game well going forwards. He put in a quality block today that showed great anticipation. His issues are that he seems to be playing the game at a slower speed than the rest of our players at times and he’s become really hesitant on the ball in a way he didn’t do when he broke through.

He does need a loan but when he starts playing regularly he’ll be quality for us. I just don’t think he’ll play regularly here this season and I hope we can get him a loan deal

Jeeze, making it look like we should have sold him to Forest and kept Anderson.

Except Anderson was being dismissed the exact same way Miley now is.

This place is ridiculous.

I think Miley will be better than Anderson. The attributes are there, I just think he needs the confidence to do it. Being in a league where he's the best at that level doing what we know he can, would do wonders.

The lad has a lot of potential and has the chance to be a great player. Hes still under 20. So ideally needs to play week in week out to progress.

Needs a loan to allow that, as long as we bring someoene else in.  looking at how they’ve started, id consider Boro. Means he can still live at home too.

He was the least of pur problems today but I thought the sentiments about a loan potentially being the asking of him, the question is whether we're in a position to be letting an able body leave without a replacement

Yes, it is ridiculous.

I thought we looked better with Anderson than others during that injury ravaged period. But he was out himself.

Miley really needs to play every week. Doesn't appear to want a loan. Isn't going to displace Bruno, Tonali, Joelinton, or Ramsey. Doesn't excel when he gets his opprtunities.

Oh, I agree. Just frustrated.
