Watched him live so I'm glad my opinion of how good he looked today is shared on here. Proper midfielder this lad.

He's got a lovely touch, proper technician. Not a tactician yet though. He's a big lad and with experience and confidence should win more strength stuff.

He's just a really good footballer, even when he wasn't really old enough he looked like he belonged at the top level.

He did and didn't. On his debut we were zinging balls into feet under pressure and he handled them like a 30yr old international, but he didn't seem to know where to go to get the ball or when they had the ball. Like I say the lads a technician, often the tactical and confidence side comes with experience.

I thought the opposite. I don’t think he has the athleticism to get up and down as an 8.

In our system athleticism is most needed in the 6 rather than the 8s. Think the recent changes show that.

To me he's most similar to Bruno. Capable of threading a pass but doesn't have the athleticism to play 6 for us. I don't think he has the defensive awareness, positioning or aggression either.

I think naturally he's a 10 and that's where he's played in his youth career iirc. He clearly has absolutely bags of technical ability and composure.

Can crack a ball as well judging by today’s finish.

I see you’ve missed off my second paragraph where I go on to say something fairly similar?

It is hard to gauge because of the opposition today and also because we haven’t seen him properly since last season. But I much preferred him in that role and getting on the ball regularly. Thought the game passed him by far more when he played as one of the 8s last year.

Would all depend who we’re playing, who else is in midfield with him, who else is playing wide for us on the day, how the team continues to evolve etc.

For example. Bruno gets away with his slowness due to having Tino and Murphy on that side. He has legs around him. So maybe he’d get away with it in a similar setup.

Joelinton on the other side we rely on him covering so much ground, sitting in for Hall, playing that channel role. Proper hybrid position and a rarity. I wouldn’t want Miley playing in a position like that.

I bet we've had enquiries from a few clubs who think we are PSR vulnerable. There's no chance we make the same mistake as we did with Anderson.

This lad is England material.

There was a couple of times when Miley showed a really good burst of pace defensively but I certainly don't feel like it's "his game", as it were.

It's still unclear where he will fit but that's normal. I remember a young Fabregas was seen as a DM then seemed to be an attacking player then dropped back to DM as he got older.

Ultimately if we are a dominant team, it shouldn't matter so much, his game will be played further up the pitch.

What im really excited about is that he has an eye for a goal. Remember him hitting the bar on his debut at Stamford bridge? This is now his second goal. Not bad considering that Longstaff struggles and even Anderson couldn't find the net.

I think Miley's a lot faster than he's being given credit for. Like Big Jow he's leggy with a long stride length so he doesn't look like he's going fast because his feet aren't a blur, but he can cover good ground.

He’s so much stronger than last season; we’ve got a player on our hands. He’s a number 6 for me, he can cover ground without being quick and he’s a passer rather than a ball carrier.

If we have to sell because of PSR and want pure profit, we sell Longstaff every time. At 18 years old Miley has a huge ceiling. In a system that suits him he’ll be top class. Give him a yard of extra pace over the 1st 10 yards and a bit of controlled aggresyanf he’s got the potential to be different level.

Agreed. Out of our starting three he looked most similar to Tonali to me.

No way i would loan him out, he's proved himself at the highest level with us even in the Champions league, he is ready to play and be part of our first team.

Any game where Longstaff is considered, it should be Miley instead.
