Danh1 Posted Sunday at 11:21 Share Posted Sunday at 11:21 Just wanted to go back to the pre/post match music. Watch this video of Tonali’s last game before his ban. The fans getting behind him, completely spoiled by the hideous Hey Jude. The PA gadgie is being told to play it imo. https://youtu.be/xUILzYPAM1I

Their matchday experience is just 90 minutes of misery (like everyone's experience today heh heh heh) otherwise they haven't actually been to the match. People leaving today at 1-2 today though, fuck me. A few of our STH holders are like that. Think they almost own their seat, and think they’re mint fans because they’ve had that seat for 600 millennia and always turn up regardless of how negative they are at the games. Be the same lot who didn’t make a peep at Wembley. That bloke behind me actually stayed to the end Personally I wouldn’t ever leave a match early if I could especially when a match is in the balance but there’s almost an unwritten rule in English football where if a team goes 2 goals down after 80 minutes or so there’s a mass exodus. I don’t think staying to the end is worthy of some kind of soopafan badge. I’ve left a couple games early in my short time but mainly due to how grim it’s been; I left when the 4th hit the net yesterday, first time since the takeover. Last times I remember leaving were going 3 down to West Ham in stoppage time under Benitez (late walk in game, left as soon as the 3rd hit the net) and the 0-3 home defeat to Leicester under McClaren. Only time I’ve ever left before stoppage time from the top of my head.
SteV Posted Sunday at 11:40 Share Posted Sunday at 11:40 The only time I’ve ever left early was the 0-6 against Liverpool. Just looked back at the timeline of that game to try and remind myself, and my snapping point was when Debuchy got himself sent off immediately after it going 0-5. Didn’t even make it to Barrack Road before it went 0-6.
bobbydazzla Posted Sunday at 11:42 Share Posted Sunday at 11:42 (edited) One thing I’ve contemplated a few times is that people in the stadium are quick to be very vocal when they want to slag an NUFC player or express frustration if there’s a mistimed pass etc High volume, passionate negativity is very easy for many But people are rarely so keen to offer encouragement to players, or build them back up if they’ve made a mistake Is this just a societal thing ? It’s easier to be negative & angry than it is to be positive & encouraging ? Edited Sunday at 11:43 by bobbydazzla

Paully Posted Sunday at 11:44 Share Posted Sunday at 11:44 Each to their own but I’ve never left early and never will - it’s like going to watch a movie and leaving before the end! (PS - Unless Michelle Keegan wanted to meet me in Popworld!)

If Sean Longstaff isn’t a top tier midfielder, then hurling abuse at him and groaning every time he makes an error isn’t going to make him play better, it’ll make him even worse Save the slagging until out of the ground is my motto Edited Sunday at 11:54 by bobbydazzla

(PS - Unless Michelle Keegan wanted to meet me in Popworld!) I've never left either, don't think I'm a superfan for that but I stay till the end and I will always clap the lads off. Yesterday was hard but we were bested in all departments and I wouldn't say it was necessarily due to lack of desire or effort. Atmosphere in the barracks may be some of the worst in St James', it's a constant merry-go-round of corporate day trippers and a few misplaced ST holders from elsewhere, hate it. Rich Posted Sunday at 11:56 Share Posted Sunday at 11:56 I think staying until the end and clapping them off after the run we’ve just had is the least people could have done yesterday, like. Woeful craic scurrying off because you can’t take losing a game against a very decent side.
RobsonsWonderland Posted Sunday at 12:01 Share Posted Sunday at 12:01 (edited) To be honest I thought the lads deserved a standing ovation at the end for the effort they put in throughout the unbeaten run, being on the front foot in the semi final and knowing we are there to support them through thick and thin. Oh and if anyone left at 2.1 has a semi final ticket, can you pass it onto me as Im sure we will need support until the very end on that night Edited Sunday at 18:02 by RobsonsWonderland
Rich Posted Sunday at 12:08 Share Posted Sunday at 12:08 Aside from that, I felt a touch of the Wembleys around me yesterday. Feels like as a collective we’re too easily muted as soon as the stakes are high and we’re not immediately doing it on the pitch. The winning record seemed to be playing on people’s minds. I’m already dreading potentially being at Wembley again in March because I know exactly what it’ll be like if we don’t score early and go on to win. Exactly that, if we were coming off 5 defeats in a row and people left then I wouldn't be as passionate to rant but we've won 9 games on the bounce, won at the Emirates and Old Trafford were we always get rolled over... Surely the lads deserve a clap off. Not like the soulless players who got turned over off Sunderland without breaking sweat are they

Its called alcohol Most fans are half cut before they arrive in the ground, hardly watching just talking to their mates, and shouting to be heard. You get this at loads of matches though, it's a culture thing, worse in large groups, but singular pissed 50+ year olds do it, so not picking on the groups of lads. My daughter hates sitting next to gob shites who want everyone to hear them, she usually makes me swap seats, a good indicator is, if the seat is empty next to you and the game has begun, but then your row all start standing 10 minutes in, a piss pot is arriving late from the pub. The old level 7 corner had 3k stood. I used to love it up there. Had my ST there for a couple of seasons before Ashley split it up. Great decision extending the family section next to the away end. Not the best being so far away. But the atmosphere was usually quality and could always have a bit of back and forth with the away fans. Villa 6-0 Sunderland 5-1 Arsenal 4-4 Being up there for those games was something else.
Lush Vlad Posted Sunday at 12:53 Share Posted Sunday at 12:53 Just on the negativity stuff. I thought for large spells yesterday. You could hear NUFC chants loud and clear on the TV and seemed like we stayed with the team until perhaps right at the end? You got the groans and anger when we misplaced yet another pass or let them in for one of their many chances. But that’s par for the course at basically every ground, I’d say? I take people’s point about the moaning and the almost expectant nature of the crowd. Certainly seems like that when I’ve been over the last couple of seasons. Whitley mag Posted Sunday at 13:06 Share Posted Sunday at 13:06 Genuinely think we have the most miserable and boring home crowd in the league. The whole Gallowgate should be standing all game regardless, as other home ends currently do around the league. The Kop must have old bastards who’ve had season tickets for years, but they manage it. There just isn’t any sense of occasion anymore it’s fucking desperate.

Wullie Posted Sunday at 17:39 Share Posted Sunday at 17:39 One thing I've noticed about SJP now is how quick it is to boo. Basically any defeat is boos unless it's against one of the real elite sides, Man City or Liverpool. Proper spoilt brat behaviour.
