Newcastle United 2-1 Wolves (12/03/2023)

Recommended Posts

I'm going to have to watch the next game with a foreign commentary team, they were desperate for Pope to get sent off, desperate for a Wolves goal at 1-0 and not one mention of any contentious decisions that went against us. The whole narrative post match is about the Pope/Jiminez incident, really don't want us to upset the party at the top do they?

1st half probably our best 1st half this season. 2nd goal would’ve been deserved and massive game changer for us.

2nd half struggled to get going. Been impressed with the Wolves manager changing the game with early subs on many occasions. Goal was keystone cops but possibly deserved.

Just seen the Pope incident properly and it’s not a pen at all.

iIndividual performances I’d say Isak’s best 45 for us and Murphy’s best game for us. Possibly one of Bruno’s poorest. Pope still got that red card hanging over him it felt but when called upon to make saves actually had a very good game. Needs to work on having the ball at his feet as seems to be getting worse. Willock and Miggy looked hungry again after short spells out. ASM better when Burn keeps out his way and allows him space.

Burn and Trippier mistake aside both solid and will have to be on their game to get anything against Forest as will Longstaff.

Aye, didn’t they bring down our player in the box, should have been a penalty, not given, and they get go up the other end, get a corner, and score from it?

I’m sure it was the point many of us were like ‘We need VAR’.

Yes. I was still raging about that days later.

In fact, now it's been brought up, I'm raging about it now :tickedoff:

Crazy that a Wolves striker hasn't scored a league goal for a year

Pretty evident why looking at today.

They created nothing. A good save from Pope from a freekick, a good ball in the box that was dealt with by us, and one of those sorts that just happen from time to time for them to score their goal.

That Raul looked absolutely terrible mind. Completely finished at the top level.

Wolves would be a decent side if they had a striker.

Spent a fortune on Cunha and he couldn't even get on for them today

I get the international footage, and because the game was on at daft o’clock on a workday for me I only got to see the last 20 mins and had to watch the waffle afterwards to see the earlier goals etc.  Shearer thought it was a pen.

fuckng chavvy kids again goading the wolves fans on barrack roud.

getting ridiculous.

If you’ve been to Wolves away, then you’ll know that it’s no more than they deserve. Fucking hideous.

No away fans in any pubs, police on the door of every pub, not doormen, actual police.

A police escort out, and being goaded by their fans during the match.

Absolute fucking awful away day, although we did win when I went.

the bairns giving the away fans shit has always happened man  you just notice it more as we’ve won more than previously.

At least the police didn’t have the horses this time which only served to make the situation was more dangerous, legit thought I was going to get crushed after Leeds I think it was.

My first away match was Wolves, the final game of the 82-83 season. Our fans were scrapping with theirs on the pitch after the game.

Also there was a great moment at half time where the Wolves subs were warming up in two separate groups doing different drills, one lad overhit his pass and the other sprinted to try and control it but didn’t look where he was going and ran full belt into one of the players other groups. Both hit the deck quite hard. Amused me anyway.

Also, the lads in that half time game are alway abysmal, think the one person this season who actually did well was the one who the announced had 8 pints before the match.

Would very much like for this lot to go down.

They contribute fuck all to the competition.

Always had a soft spot for Wolves tbh, probably just because they play in orange shirts and have a cool badge, but anyway.
