Newcastle United vs. Leicester City: 22/05/23 @ 20:00 (Sky Sports)

Can’t decide if the 7-1 in ‘93 or the 4-3 in ‘97 was my favourite game vs Leicester at SJP.  The 7-1 is burned into the memory banks because of the entire day, but the 4-3 was definitely the better game in the end (we were utterly shite for 75 mins mind)

The NYD fixture at home to these three years ago really did feel like an incredible low point.

How times change…

Said it on Boxing Day, they did us 0-3 in a freezing cold, grim environment. So obviously light years clear of us in every department and something as fans under Ashley we aspired to be like. We then reversed that on Boxing Day and did them 0-3 in their backyard in exactly the same circumstances.

They've been going for Champions League in 2 of the last 3 seasons, but just missed out. This match could confirm our place in the Champions League, yet officially relegate them.

Absolutely bonkers.

Tbh, it was less than 18 months ago they were beating us 4-0 at their place, and although we had a bit of hope by that point, the gulf in class still appeared massive.

To have a complete role reversal so soon is a bit mad.

Feel like this could be a game that we do feel the nerves in naturally. Cagey game but our attack makes the difference and cuts through them like a hot knife through butter once the first goal is in.

Maddison staring on in awe.
