Bear in mind every club says they need to sell because of FFP. It's convenient to tell the player, supporters and other clubs that. 'Do you want to buy this player? He's not really good enough for us and a bit injury prone, but go on, he could be great for you.' Or 'Do you want to buy this player? He's fucking great. I wish we didn't have to sell him but, FFP you know?' Evidently - we did need to sell for FFP reasons. 1 hour ago, Danh1 said: Makes you wonder why Liverpool weren't in for him when Slut worked close with him last season? Hopefully it’s because he isn’t all that Why take the risk and spend 30m now? If he’s the real deal they can get him for 70-80m in a year or two. And they’ve got Salah, Szob, Elliott as left footed attackers. Points deduction is a non starter. CL spots are usually decided by 1-3 points.

Sibierski
Glad he’s gone. £33n without kicking a ball for us is laughable. Modern day football so move with the times people. He should be one of 10 over next 6 years where you accept as part of the game and the one you keep and enjoy.
Alan Pardew
Minteh… signed from bumfuck Odense in Norway or Denmark or whatever was never going to see a second of playing time in the premier league for you lot. You’ve now sold him for a MASSIVE profit. Just the same as the likes of Ashby and that Australian lad no one remembers. They will be moved on as well when the time is right. This is what you are now. A big club, moving players on with little remorse. Get used to it lads. I’ve been on the drink tonight not going to lie. 🍺🍺🍺 A win for England tomorrow you think? Possibly. I’ve texted Gareth with a few pointers. You get my drift? I was the favourite for the job at one point.

Ketsbaia
Insanely good fee, when you line it up with other deals both here and at other clubs. It feels like free money. Naturally there's a lot of FOMO going around about what he is/could be. But we're set to buy a top-quality player in that position anyway.

We’ve not even started the proper transfer window yet, who knows where Allison will be by August 31st. This whole transfer rush is caused by ridiculous PSR rules. Minteh looked good in a poor league, and even then wasn’t outstanding every game. He’s never trained with the squad, never played premier league football, and never worked under Eddie. If we can use that asset to avoid points deductions, why wouldn’t we?? It’s crap that we don’t get to see someone develop, but it shows the board have some nous about avoiding the negativity that would come with a PSR breach. New sponsorship deals and turnover kick in from the new season, so we’ll have more to spend and have spend it by growing the brand. That’s the right way of doing it, and I for one have faith in the board and Eddie to get us to the top without FFP/PSR/the leagues next bullshit idea holding us back. TheBrownBottle
NB re forced sales due to PSR - Minteh was bought with PSR in mind. For all the talk about being ‘forced’ into this due to PSR - without PSR I doubt that PIF would’ve been wanting the Mintehs of the world in the first place. They would have been buying experienced names.

A couple of years ago we would have wanted to be buying these sort of players before Brighton got them. At this point they are buying them off us. For all the talk of he's unproven at the PL level I'm still hugely disappointed, just going off what I've seen of him in highlight clips. Miggy refusing to budge in January has come back to bite us, and I'm sorry, but it will make me a lot less forgiving if he's still here next season cutting back and going backwards when he's been put through behind the defence. Brighton and the others are signing him because they think he’s the Potential to be a £60m winger. Thats the level of player we want to sign. Thats what Real Madrid do with Fede Valverde, Vinicius, Rodrygo, Odegaard. Thats Martinelli, Harvey Elliott, Garnacho etc. some won’t make the grade, some will need to be sold to fund other purchases but it’s perfectly sane squad building. I don't doubt it's good business from a PSR angle, but I still have a hunch he'll go on to be worth a lot more. Let's hope not though.

There's perhaps another way to think about it though: You have to be an extremely good player to play at top four level, which is where we want to be, and why it's so hard for young players to come through at very top clubs. Very top teams don't want to use one of their starting 11 spots developing a raw youngster. There's too much at stake for that. So the biggest clubs get these raw youngsters, maybe send them out on loan for a year or two and then sell them on for a profit to a midtable/bottom half team. That gives them the funds to buy someone who's (hopefully) ready to perform at the top level immediately. The midtable team do the final bit of development, getting them experience at that level. Taking that bit of risk that they may or may not develop as hoped. The overall level isn't as high so having a player who's a bit raw isn't as much of a problem. The player may then develop to the level where they are ready to be one of those immediate play at the highest level players, or they may not. So maybe the fact we're the ones selling to the midtable club and not looking to play a raw youngster could be seen as a good sign.

If we do go on to sign a proven RW of genuine class, and this sale is what enables it to go through, then can't complain. But that does make RW an absolute priority now IMO.
