If them is the rules. In US sports you'd not collect a cent as a player and in fact the team would not be allowed to pay it.

Aye but the US general aversion to online gambling is nothing to do with any social responsibility but a sop to the Presidential kingmaker Sheldon Alderson.

It's not just gambling, online or in a casino. If you get suspended for anything against the rules of the league you get nothing more or less.

By the way, I'm not defending it or justifying it, just mentioning that's how it is.

In the US is it correct that US registered Debit and Credit cards can’t be used to gamble online?

And maybe he will. We just don't know. But it's a bit different to this:

"I hope to god we're not paying him a penny during this period"

That's just my opinion on the matter.....feel free to disagree by all means.

Don't see it happening anytime soon but betting should really go the way of tobacco when it comes to advertising.

Especially with the years we've had, cost of living, etc, having this stuff rammed down peoples throats seems downright irresponsible.

In all seriousness I would rather have paid the £25m quoted for Scott McT. PL ready so no bedding in and can score goals at both club and international level. Probably have accepted half the wages of Tonali as well. Howe does seem to like him, so he still may arrive in January.

Of course I'm not glad he's banned.

We signed Gordon from Everton and he was nowhere near ready to play for us.

If he's on full pay then you can kiss goodbye to any discipline in the club. How could you ever fine anyone for being late to training and not someone who through their own actions is suspended for the season?

Pretty sure clubs can't fine players for things they did before they joined the club.

My personal sentiments are not really that different than most.  Obviously everyone involved - both NUFC and fans (me included) will support him at this time and good that he's now getting the help he needs for his problem. However, still an absolute fucking idiot thing from him to do. You earn more than some normal people earn in their lifetime in the space of a month, you then decide to get into not just any sports betting, but to bet on your own team.

You can feel sorry for the addict but you can also comment on how irresponsible and stupid the behaviour is. Football also needs to have a hard look at itself with how it promotes sports betting.

Even if they slashed his salary by 75%, that would still mean he's earning £30,000 a week. Bloke will just have to go to 'spoons less often.

Put it all on red twice and he could be back up to 100%.
