Kid Icarus Posted Saturday at 20:40 Share Posted Saturday at 20:40 (edited) I do worry about the quality of the replacements and our ability to get them. This refresh could very quickly go down the same path Leicester, Southampton and others did when they found their head bumping the glass ceiling, they sold off their talent to go again, and found that they were paying more to get less. Not being hyperbolic and saying we'll end up the same as what's happened to them, I'm just talking about the refresh part. Someone else pulled him up over it and he appeared embarrassed and tried to backpedal. I just enjoy seeing watching people's mask slipping when they get pushed a bit. GOTONEW Posted Saturday at 20:42 Share Posted Saturday at 20:42 Easier to accept him leaving than expected. I never really clicked with him...despite being worth £100m when he's on it. Which he wasn't at all last season. Him and Gordon leaving is massively damaging if we don't replace...but I'll weirdly miss neither of them.

I’ve been saying for a while we need to be better sellers to reinvest but I’m concerned that we are going to sell too much quality and after last summer have concerns about us bringing in our first choice replacements. I won't particularly miss him.

Aye, now been two months since his “training ground announcement a matter of weeks away” claim. Fraudulent.

kingxlnc Posted Saturday at 20:46 Share Posted Saturday at 20:46 Not long ago we were considered to have the best midfield in the league BRUNO TONALI JOELINTON Now it's Ramsay Miley Bruno What a come down
St1pe Posted Saturday at 20:47 Share Posted Saturday at 20:47 I’m surprised we knocked back £80m.
Tsunami Posted Saturday at 20:47 Share Posted Saturday at 20:47 Some of Tonali’s passing is very average, he’s got a great engine but he doesn’t really drive forward or beat players with skill. It could be that playing with Bruno is holding back. In any event, 100M would be a great price. As said elsewhere, so long as we don’t get stiffed in how we spend it. Missed him for a season because of his own actions, came back had a good season then had one eye on a move out the door all while passing to anyone that wasn’t wearing a Newcastle shirt
St1pe Posted Saturday at 20:49 Share Posted Saturday at 20:49 If we get close to that £100m figure I wonder if Wharton could be a realistic replacement.

His strength was his engine. His ability to get up and down the pitch. Didn't actually do anything else particularly well. Not good with dead balls, didn't score that many goals, not great in the air...

timeEd32 Posted Saturday at 20:50 Share Posted Saturday at 20:50 Similar to Gordon I imagine Tonali’s non-PL price would be more like £80m. If any Italian club could afford that and big wages he’d probably go there. I’m glad we’re attempting to add a PL premium though.
