We have 25 senior squad places and 1 is filled with someone who's played 4 minutes in games he's needed to be registered for (CL & PL). He doesn't even need to be replaced but not having him frees up a squad player position. It's been crippling wasting 2 PL squad slots on him and Ritchie (and Tonali for obvious reasons) when we've had such an injury crisis. I put it down to FFP forcing it, but surely they go this summer. But you would be replacing him, even if it was for a player in a different position, he’d be taking his squad place. And if that player improves the squad overall, that’s absolutely fine. But just sacking him off and his role (however limited that is) being taken up by someone not as good, seems to have very little benefit, other than perhaps saving a relatively minor amount in wages.
