Do City have a buy-back clause for Delap? If they do then I can see them buying him back and flipping him a week later for £50m+ if the interest in him is there

If it's possible. Can they do that? :undecided:

Only if he agrees to it. He's not obligated to sign a contract with them even if Ipswich is obligated to accept any agreed buy-back fee.

Trafford

Huijsen

Veiga (loan)

Mbeumo

Delap

We’d be in a title race if we got those without losing anyone major / injuries dependent. Not saying we would win it but we would be in a race well past Christmas imo. But to be fair we may not sign any of those

Hopefully we don’t spend the entire transfer window chasing one player, unsuccessfully.

Thats my fear with someone like Mbuemo. Brentford dont have to sell and he doesnt have a release clause so they can wait all summer and hope to force an auction. We need to do smart early business if possible

I'll go with a less exciting, domestic based version:

Calvert-Lewin

:bob: - would rather give Osula a chance

They had option to do that with Lavia and didn’t, so doubt they do it here. Strange club, especially when you put those clauses in and not use them.

Im imagining they’re releasing players who they expect aren’t going to reach their level. Adding a buyback clause is just a simple, cost free clause in case they got it wrong. Dunno what’s difficult to grasp about that.

I would guess that most likely we will see some names not mentioned once in this topic, given Mitchell's contacts in Europe. We need so many bodies in, that we have to be clever. Eddie must understand that after what happened last summer.

Lavia moved for more than clause (and they ended up spending money on chasing players of no better quality), and Delap will be same. Even before both, Porro and Luiz both had clauses which they turned down.

What level do they expect the players to reach when they’re moving them onto lesser clubs, do well and then move on again, if they’re repeatedly not activating the clauses they put in.

Still not bad.

That's absolutely grim

That lot would cost the best part of £200m and doesn't really improve us that much, apart from adding some much needed squad depth.

I dont want Semenyo, at the price he would cost.

He's another run merchant. Good athlete, good at transitions and counter-attacks, but doesn't have the guile or technique to unlock a defence.

We have a number of those types of players already. I hope we go after someone with a different profile.

Delap looks to me like he hasn’t got that next level skill set and touch that you would expect from a striker (hopefully) playing regularly in Europe.
Lots of effort and good physicality though.
