It's been something broadly reported for a while. I think the issue is that their wages are crazy high.

Duran wasn’t pure profit. They paid about £20m for him originally. But, obviously they’ve still made a handsome profit. 
 

It shouldn’t be underestimated how much Villa have invested in players though. I know they’ve made some big sales too, as well as this season’s CL revenue, but with the wages they’ve been paying out, they must have been pushing the close to the limit.

I think £40m is way over what Elliott should go for currently. I rate him but he’s a bit part player for them, the max he should go for is £30m

I think villa are absolutely fine. It's worth remembering that the wages issue isn't relevant as squad cost hasn't passed yet.

They are still an issue for psr. Especially when your wages are at around 100% of your revenue.

Given we went for Maddison I could see Elliott being considered although a lot has changed since then. That Lee Kang In fits the mould too.

 

I think most expect a right winger come centre forward now as well as an attacking box to box midfielder. I just wish the window would hurry up and open then close.

Ramsay for sure but Rogers will be off to one of the Sky teams or a big team abroad unfortunately. Even though Howe could work wonders with him and he'd be idolised (potentially).
