We didn't sign Elanga or Trafford last year because of PSR constraints. We nearly did but decided it wasn't smart, given the costs. (Again, that's my perception, I might be wrong, no problem). If you mean how long it takes to negotiate a fee, we'll i entirely disagree, all clubs take their time because they try to save money, rather than to get deals done super quick to appease impatient fans.

 

Think about how ridiculous that is by the way? "I want you to pay x millions more to get the deal done now, oh but by the way when we are skint in the next two years I'll be back to criticise you for that and tell you its 'not a good look'".

Elanga, Trafford, Guehi, Mbeumo, Joao Pedro, Delap, Cunha. These have all been strongly linked. Some of the most reputable journalists on the planet have reported bids for most of these.  Not landing any of them so far - isn’t a great look. 
 

You won’t land all your targets and there’s reasons for everything. 
 

I’ll add Kelly and Tosin. In the last 2 years  I think those are all the players we’ve been linked too the strongest. We’ve landed 1 of them so far. again there are reasons for everything.  
 

In 2+ years we’ve landed 1 first team target. Take a step back. That’s not a great endorsement of the entire management of the club top to just before Howe. Add to that no concrete news on stadium or training ground. 
 

No point spending more time this Sunday morning on this. We have different views on business, PIF and everything. Enjoy the day pal.

I don't think we have issues going foreign, but they need to be as guaranteed as possible for us to do it. It will be very much known European talent that other clubs like Chelsea have passed on for whatever reason.

Andrey Santos still not getting any minutes for Chelsea, he had a great season in France last year and we scouted him at Vasco.

 

Still only 21 Brazilian and would be perfect cover for this season, we should be all over it.

I like Andrew Santos a lot from what I’ve seen of him.

Howe did work miracles last year winning our first domestic trophy in 70 years. 

Playing almost all the top seven in doing so defeating arsenal away in the first leg of the semi final which majority of us thought it would be a tough ask even for a draw. 

Playing Liverpool in the final who we don't beat very often without botman hall and gordon at our disposal and went into it massive underdogs. 

It was a miracle to me anyway.

Not sure what else the club can do tbh. If another club comes in with a higher bid, offers higher wages, then we’re fucked. We’ve clearly been able to sell the ‘project’ to certain players but others just will always go where the £££’s are.

 

Clubs aren’t going to do us favours, especially if they don’t need to sell. Seemingly they (or the players agent) make it known we’re after player x to drive up more interest, why wouldn’t they? And if a high profile club with bottomless pockets are interested, we’re likely, fucked.

 

Can’t even blame Chelsea really, they didn’t set these rules. (Onboard with them being total cunts though).

Several of these players we’ve been chasing for years. Still having protracted sagas to get them signed or not.  
 

It’s just not a good look.  
 

I’m personally not overly worried.  Particularly when we are gazumped by others. But the protracted nature of the Elanga and Trafford deal don’t reflect well on those meant to be closing deals. And again - the uncertainty around the clubs management - isn’t a great reflection of the leadership either. 
 

We can only judge the window at the end. There’s some positive indicators in our approach but a lot of negative indicators too.  

 

 

I share these concerns tbh. It seems like we are fighting losing battles going in for these players, but we have to give it a shot I suppose. 

 

The crucial part is what our back up plans are. Hopefully we've got cards to play which we are keeping closer to our chest, but we aren't going to know that until the window has closed.

I would have thought Howe is in full charge of who we go after this summer, I’m not sure who else it could be right now.
