After Eddie’s comments the other day it’s become quite clear that we’ve not got the staff to cover all of the work that needed doing this summer. We’re absolutely glacial.

Agreed, although we have had a year to plan for this. We seem quite surprised by fees and other things that are happening.

We’re half way through window and we’ve still not sorted out CEO which we knew was needed since last year, or a DoF which we’ve known for a while too.

 

Imagine if Howe left, we’d be waiting till Feb to appoint a manager, with Graeme Jones interim till then.

It’s not just other clubs. It’s agents too. It’s figuring out what’s possible and what’s not, thinking a few steps ahead etc.

I said a month back that if we hadn't signed 2 by the second week in July, id start getting worried.

 

I'd consider us behind schedule now.

 

It's possible to sign 4 players in a day, but its just not the way we like to work. They need 2 signings on the bounce in the next fortnight, to give them a chance going into the last couple of weeks.

 

I just hope we actually spend the money we have. I hope we dont just do the "the deals weren't right" bullshit because ultimately the squad needs players. I'd rather we pivoted away from a plan to sign a specific type of player, if it meant bringing some quality in the door in another area.

 

For example, we bid 69m for Ekitike, there's really no excuse why should end this window without a couple more additions.

 

Even if we dont get the player we want, in the position we want, the squad needs fresh faces and at the very least we have to show our current players that we still mean business.

Only Anderson. Minteh never played for us and was a very big profit for so.

 

It’s like if we sold Cordero next summer for £35m, are people going to cry about that for ages?

Anderson was a bitter pill to swallow but by pushing the PSR boundary, we signed some absolute elite talent, which ultimately is why we ended our trophy drought.
