We are an elite club competing in the elite competition of Europe. The pool of players who can improve us is small. Every other elite club in Europe is competing for the very small pool of elite players who are available to buy. Eddie said this very clearly. We are also in the unfortunate position of being in the grey zone of total revenue and spending power that exists between the elite clubs and the rest of the pack. Whilst frustrating, this is a fact of life.

We don’t just want good players, we want the very best who will help us win things. This is going to be frustrating when we are 100-200m behind in revenue with clubs who are also looking to improve. Our lists of targets will absolutely overlap with everyone else’s.

Looking at our bench from most of our games last season, I think there are plenty of players who could improve our squad.

We even had 2 goalkeepers on the bench a couple of times.

With CL we are going to need more depth, cant just go after purple players imo.

Our targets suck.

Forward we previously bid for

Another forward we previously bid for

Winger we previously bid for

Keeper we previousky bid for

I don’t think the targets suck. It is however the same targets from two years ago which is alarming.

Now I’d take Nunez over Wissa any day. For me that’s much more exciting.

Darwin's got 25 epl goals in 3 seasons for Liverpool, and we all know he misses easy chances, right? Not great for the EPL. Meanwhile, Wissa's bagged 38 for Brentfordw. Wissa's the perfect Wilson replacement and will get us 10+ goals. But, with us being linked to JP and then Ekitike, I get that it's a bit of a letdown to be linked with Wissa.

Howe's a miracle worker, but I don't see him getting Nunez to fire as a striker, and let's not even mention his wages. Wissa's better, in my opinion.

I get what you’re saying loud and clear but PSR means it’s not a good idea. We get a few players in to fill the squad out but not push us on in terms of quality and it’ll hamper us later on where we have players we can’t sell and we won’t have the financial leeway to buy the best players.

Better to go for quality buys and fill the bench with our young players for now.

I’ve said this on here numerous times, Wissa is one of the most underrated players in the league.

I would be very happy to have him playing off of Isak in a front two or up front for Alex when he needs a rest.

He’s a player who has progressively improved each season in the top flight and is good for 10 goals minimum.

Get him on a 4 or 5 year deal and he’s going to be effective for the duration of the contract.

If we actually had any that Eddie trusted to play(other than Miley), I would be perfectly fine with this.

I disagree. I'd back our first XI to go up against pretty much any side in Europe, even more so with Elanga in there. The problem is that same XI playing three games a week.

Look at some of the fixtures - we have a run of 7 games between 22nd Nov and 13th Dec, starts with Man City (H), ends with Sunderland (A) and has our 5th and 6th CL games in the middle. I'd be great to add three or four immediate starters but if that isn't possible then three better alternatives than Willock, Osula and Lascelles would at least give us a chance to rest some of our key players at times without massively dropping the quality of our starting XI.

Thought I’d start the day with some positivity [emoji38]

We’ve officially sold Longstaff now so the club will definitely be bringing in a player for either that position or some kind of hybrid and no names have really been mentioned strongly which I find kinda exciting…

Hasn’t he already said he doesn’t want to come here?

Yes he has. I think players and agents know what our wage structure is and they are put off joining us as they know they could get 25% more from the other big clubs.

This has been our problem when trying to attract top level players. We now need to be looking for players slightly below these who may develop that have more realistic wage demands

Basically Elanga types or players in Serie A, Bundesliga, Ligue 1.
