NUFC Transfer Rumours

I’d give it a couple more weeks before judging this window as below expectations.

Agreed - think the next fortnight is crucial.

Otherwise we’re in the period where clubs know we are desperate, and selling clubs don’t have time to replace the players we’re trying to buy. Meaning we need to overpay, which it’s clear we’re not willing to do.

We are an elite club competing in the elite competition of Europe. The pool of players who can improve us is small. Every other elite club in Europe is competing for the very small pool of elite players who are available to buy. Eddie said this very clearly. We are also in the unfortunate position of being in the grey zone of total revenue and spending power that exists between the elite clubs and the rest of the pack. Whilst frustrating, this is a fact of life.

We don’t just want good players, we want the very best who will help us win things. This is going to be frustrating when we are 100-200m behind in revenue with clubs who are also looking to improve. Our lists of targets will absolutely overlap with everyone else’s.

Agree but we need to play the system like Chelsea.

If say we have £150m to spend this summer, would an extra £50m made any difference to our approaches to transfers so far?

Keep hearing about the limited funds and competing with clubs with hands behind our back, but that feels an easy cop out for routinely missing when it comes to deals. Guehi didn’t get done last summer, neither did Trafford. Only one that’s been successful is Elanga, and that’s after a move late last summer, and likely a year putting in ground work to eventually get there this summer thanks to no other clubs being involved.

I'd have accepted losing both for a trophy and 2 CL campaigns mind.

This is obviously a logical fallacy that can be used to justify any preceding action. The choice was a Harvey Barnes for Minteh and Anderson. Barnes is good but that’s not a trade I make.

This should be pinned at the top of the forum. A rare dose of common sense.

Ignoring the fact we wouldn’t have any interest, there will be no transfer business between us and Liverpool for a long time imo.

Quite funny if we signed him and he outscored the Bindippers forwards

Jackson definitely has more upside than Nunez. I think their footballing brains are their weakest qualities but Jackson has more useful attributes and is younger. Nunez is so good at finding space but so awful with his decision making a lot of the time and his build up play is shocking

I’d say Jackson’s brain is one of his strengths, his weakness is he’s not hungry enough for goals.
