NUFC Transfer Rumours

Mentally refreshed after a detox yesterday to go balls deep in a new “Newcastle have made an opening bid” tweet.

Take some zinc tablets and you’ll have the transfer pecker up and it’ll be “here we go” again.

I'm basing this purely on YouTube videos so take that into account.

That Savona guy looks pretty poor to me. It could just be that whoever made his highlights has done a poor job. But he looks like a fairly slow, clunky kind of player who likes to stick his legs out wildly and push people about.

No doubt I'd prefer Scalvini, he looks far more competent and much better on the ball.

I watched it too and was unimpressed. Scalvini now has some quality about him but it's all about the money now

Cesar Tarrega looks the part is 6ft 4" and has a Dan Burn attitude to tackling. He can also play out of defence quickly and is good in the air.

Much cheaper than the other two mentioned and only 23 a bit of a no-brainer....go get him quickly negotiating team before he gets snapped up.

Issue is that everyone in the squad will demand their wages upped. Isak and Bruno probably have wage parity clauses in their contracts. Osimhen ended up in Turkey for a reason, despite being Europe’s hottest striker the season before.

While I don't think we should be paying daft wages to Osimhen, I don't see why everyone in the squad should demand parity. The likes of Isak and maybe Tonali are among the world's best so they can for sure. But Bruno....not so sure. The rest....nah.

Won’t he be more expensive because Arsenal have just bought Mosquera? I like the idea of a Spanish u21 international, has Huijsen vibes.

I’ve decided we should be in for Conrad Harder at Sporting. Know nothing about him but think he could bring a real Max Power vibe to the dressing room.

Scored a cracker at u21's recently. Ran onto a pass with a long way to go, held off defenders, and the rising shot at the end of the run would have broke the keepers arm if he'd got anything on it.

Just from watching those games he looks like Delap, similar mould.

Will add that I have not consulted 37 different metrics across three different stat sites to back that assertion. Appreciate it when people do though!

There are 44 days left in the transfer window and we need at least 4 new players. That's one player every 11 days. Hard to imagine that happening.

With all the considering/pondering/monitoring to do in between bidding and being rejected I agree I don't see the current team working at the pace with the distraction of the league being 4 weeks away from starting to get in 3 or 4. That's without  the fear of how far down the list they will need to head to get anyone (if targets are indeed in order of preference).

I very much want to be proved wrong.

At this stage I'd be buzzing with two good signings, provided they were a goalkeeper and a centre back.

We’re unbelievably short up front though, with nowhere near enough creativity behind

Agreed and while strong argument to be had about their quality we have increased our workload as a side getting into europe but lost or losing

Miggy

Wilson

Longstaff

Kelly

You could say lascelles being fit now is Kelly replacement and Elanga is miggy upgrade but we're still short on quality and numbers.

I also would he happy with willock and targett going but don't see anymore sales  being sanctioned while we need to bring bodies in.

I know the recruitment team know this but can they push enough to do something about it.

I think we’re reluctant to commit to any more signings until we have a forward, and we don’t know if that forward will cost 30m or 80m. Once the situation is resolved I can see everything else happening fairly quickly, but there’s also a danger it’s going to drag out all summer.

Personally I’d rather we moved on from Ekitike and got the numbers we need. If our scouts haven’t found a promising young striker abroad for less than 40m in the last couple years then they need sacking.

There must be a new Joa Pedro, Ekiteke, or Sesko somewhere. Looks like we've been going for the same players for the last three years.

Right now we have a thinner squad compared to the last time we were in the Champions League.

Glad I am not the only one that sits and thinks about this 😂

It’s not a bad way to look at it. Can’t imagine Howe is happy with just the one RW in with all the extra games. . . . .

Eh? Ekitike had 22 goals last season. So has he only scored 26-27 career goals?!

When I looked at his stats on Google it only showed 15 last year and had him on 25 career goals. I’m presuming that was only those scored in the league since he broke through at Reims. (Why it hadn’t included cup goals I have no idea)

So slightly off in my statement, but I guess the overall point stands, one good season in a weaker league

Aye, we aren’t bringing 4 players in imo. Another 2 I reckon, CB and striker.

Trafford will sign. It’s just brinkmanship. He’s been left off the tour, It appears he’s training by himself and Burnley have already signed his replacement. I’ll be amazed if it doesn’t get done

also I can’t see Howe being happy at being a midfielder down can maybe see a young player loan coming in
