gbandit Posted yesterday at 07:48 Share Posted yesterday at 07:48 Find it hard to believe either of you have watched a lot of Jones or Elliot. They’re both very good footballers
Rich Posted yesterday at 07:51 Share Posted yesterday at 07:51 They both seem to suffer from being a bit position-less, to me, like Ramsey does here, but they’d still likely count among our better players if they were here.

They’re both very good footballers I'm not saying they're bad, but very good? I think Elliot has reached his ceiling at 23. Will have a half decent premier league career in the bottom end of the table. The English premium is real, especially when coming from a 'big' club. I'd expect to find much better in terms of both potential and quality on the continent for those prices.
RobsonsWonderland Posted yesterday at 08:30 Share Posted yesterday at 08:30 I think Elliot was lost in a bad transfer deal. The players sale he was replacing fell through last minute meaning Villa didn't really need him or want to trigger the sale. He ended up wasting a whole season so hard to judge if he would have pushed on last year or not
Armchair Pundit Posted yesterday at 08:41 Share Posted yesterday at 08:41 I like the look of that American lad Folarin Balogun, I wonder how much it'd cost to get him away from Monaco... too much probably.

Stifler Posted yesterday at 15:58 Share Posted yesterday at 15:58 Balogun looked great in some Champions League games last season. I thought he might have some attention around him this summer, but that performance last night is going to make some clubs sit up and take note. Casey Posted yesterday at 16:15 Share Posted yesterday at 16:15 (edited) Feeling very good about the window so far without much having happened yet. I've been thinking ahead based on the noises coming out around the team and the recruitment focus. Recent links indicate we'll bring an all-action midfielder who can play in a pivot even if we fail to recruit Camara from Monaco. Should Osasuna's Munoz sign we've got the beginning of an exciting focus on recruiting high-potential prospect players. Jaouen fits into this ideal already, and from the sounds of it will be second fiddle to someone more experienced in the form of Pope or a replacement should he go (which seems likely). Trafford doesn't make a lot of sense but we know the penchant for us to go for previously 'missed' transfers so not out of the question I suppose. There have been similarly profiled fullback links with an emphasis on player potential and future value. I suspect this is heavily swayed by last seasons debacle but also some credit has to go to Wilson for driving our recruitment on. One window alone isn't enough to solve every issue and make us world beaters, but every indication is that we're going about this properly and with certain ideals in mind. I'm happy for it. The College Dropout Posted yesterday at 16:38 Share Posted yesterday at 16:38 No dickheads refers to being a good lad in the changing room and good professionals, no massive egos. Same way Arsenal are all good lads. People dislike Gabriel but he most likely is a god lad in terms of being on time, respectful to team mates, trains well. Arsenal lads routinely look like bible bashers, settle down with partners young. Don’t hear much about them off the field. A big part of ‘no dickheads’ require great club leadership and management mind. Arsenal have been paying Saka and Saliba good money and everyone believes in the project. That is so key. We’ve only had 1 top tier contract renewal since Ashworth and Staveley left. And that was Gordon who has left anyway. Didnt get Isak one, haven’t got any for Livra, Hall, Bruno & Tonali (post Ashworth). I guess we have a different model and actually have to sell.
