I feel like Ramsdale was hard done by at Arsenal, and don't believe that Raya was a huge upgrade (or even the GK they thought they were signing). Yet, there's something about Ramsdale where I feel like there's a clanger waiting to happen every game, much like Pickford. I wonder if he'll 'grow' out of it similar to David James.

I don't think we're actually that far away from having quality and cover in most positions. It definitely feels like we're light and it has done for the last 6 months or so purely because we've consistently had at least 8 players out injured and we've had to cope. Some of the performances (individual and team) have been a bit sketchy but we're currently 6th with a nice run-in and that's despite having to rely a lot on the squad for ages.

If everyone was fit we could go Pope, Trippier, Tino, Schar, Botman, Bruno, Tonali, Joelinton, Gordon, Isak & Barnes with a bench of Dubravka, Burn, Willock, Miley, Anderson, Wilson, Lascelles, Hall, Murphy. That still leaves the likes of Longstaff, Almiron, Targett and Karius not even involved. We're not half as short as we think we are. Obviously we could get better but we're not too shabby when everyone is fit and available and there's no panic this summer. We all want to improve and that's natural but there's some serious talent at this club already - we'll be fine. The current injuries have distorted a lot of things for so long

theres something i dont trust about 'radgie' keepers, i want the keeper to be the calmest one there somehow

This is exactly why I can't stand Pickford.

We triggered it by finishing 14th or higher this season, it wasn’t appearance based

It was revealed the other week it was both finishing position and minimum amount of squad inclusions.

Completely agree

Always find it funny how some think we'll end up making 6 or 7 signings, it's just not going to happen

It's likely to be 3-4 at most plus any development/youth players and that is the sensible approach

Like you say, if we had just a normal injury situation we'd still have a solid starting eleven with decent options off the bench

Over a few windows that starting level and the bench will get better and better

If it wasn't for the restraining order...

What on earth did Hurley do to you that you took out a restraining order?! I personally would have let her carry on!!

I agree I don’t think it has to be a total overhaul. Obviously if Bruno left that would force a restructure in midfield. But assuming no big players leave and then they can ship out a few possibly like Wilson and Miggy and bring in a few in key positions we’ll be looking pretty good. Striker, a right wing option and CB depth seem like the key areas. I’d still love a really solid experienced LB to come in too.

Due to Anderson and Mileys emergence,  I really do think Longstaff has never been more dispensable. We don’t lose the local feel as we will still have Burn and the others. In fact as pure profit for FFP anything he brings in would have a bigger impact and prevent too much pressure on needing to get rid of more purple players. It’s a perfect storm. He’s done a great job but it feels like when Lee Clark left, it was the right time.

If arsenal came asking about Isak, I’d ask them to poll their fans on how much Henry would sell for in the modern game. The answer would be my starting price for Isak

Sesko linked in the Chronic this morning. Won't include the link due to the annoying adverts.

These rumours have been rumbling on since at least January, when he was touted as a Wilson replacement. I know that could just be wild speculation gathering momentum, but makes you wonder.
Think I am starting to get the first excited symptoms of transfer musth, like a bull elephant with the frisk on!

He was linked the summer before we signed Isak as well, I think there is definite interest from us. Available for around 45 million as well.

Will sesko settle for being a rotation option at a Europa league side?

He would see plenty of game time imo, would allow us to rest and rotate Isak properly.

I've never been 100% on the Sesko rumours. Not because I don't think he's any good, I just think if we're going to sign a forward it'll probably be someone more flexible across the front three rather than an out-and-out CF which I think Sesko is?

He could be on the list of signings we'd make if we ended up getting £100m for Bruno and wanted to bring in 5 or 6 players rather than 2 or 3.

I think if Wilson goes we need a target man to give us flexibility, some times you need a bit muscle up front at home in tight games against 10 defenders.

I don't actually buy into the fact we're looking for a player that can play across the front 3 because the striker role is such a specialised position, plus is it actually practical to have that sort of player as they'll inevitably settle into the position that they perform best in?
