NUFC Transfer Rumours

Recommended Posts

No one is coming in but we should try and clear the decks of players not playing. Targett, Kelly, the Greek, dubs, trippier, longstaff, willock, wilson (lol) grt them away.

Over time yes. Wouldn't want to get rid of Willock or Longstaff at this point of the season with quite a bit at stake. Obviously depends on the offer but under 10mill for Longstaff right now ? I'd keep up till the summer.

I know it's a broken record at this point, but the PSR/FFP rules are totally ludicrous, and are actively spoiling the game. wish they'd fuck off so teams (not just us) can build competitive teams and challenge for the title. the Premier League is finally full of ambitious owners and teams doing things "the right way", despite being held back every step of the way.

it's completely changed the transfer market as well. weakening the likes of the Championship, and strengthening bullshit like the Saudi league. it's so short sighted.

Sell whilst they are wanted. Problem is, not many will want willock as he's a crock.

This is completely true. If we, Villa , Forrest etc, were allowed to spend freely, you could have a far more competitive race for the title and much higher chance of teams who have never won the premier league doing so.

It would then be more about which of the top 6-7 teams have the best manager, tactics, form, fitness etc and be way more entertaining. Watching Man City win the league 6 out of the last 7 times is not competitive.
Spending money is no guarantee of success as Chelsea have shown recently. So it would come down to more about buying the right players, having good chemistry throughout the team etc. If lots of teams have strong recruitment and management then it will be a much closer contest between many teams.

Sure the teams that can't bank role their squads as strongly will be unlikely to be able to compete at the top of the league, but then that's no different to how it's always been and those team would be able to take advantage of picking up better players that the other teams can't fit in their squads etc and give them an opportunity to thrive.

Unfortunately that’s the issue; there aren’t, otherwise PSR wouldn’t keep getting voted in.

Targett and Kelly will not both be sold, only other one from that list will be Longstaff if a decent offer comes in.

Wonder when or if any of our top players (I doubt they know much about PSR) will see our inactivity in these windows as a lack of ambition?

Think a lot of this will depend on their agent. I'm sure the club/Eddie will be drilling it into them. But ultimately these lads tend to (rightly or wrongly) trust their agent with this sort of stuff. If the agent wants a move he will skew their thinking that way however he/she can.

They are challenging for Europe and possibly Champions league. I’m sure that’s where their focus will be. The summer is the real test and obviously dependant of where we finish.

Would like a loan to replace Miggy.

A good RW on loan with obligation to buy in the summer would be great.

I will understand if we wait until the summer. If we could sell Longstaff, Kelly and Targett, it's been a good window. Sets us up nicely for a big summer window.

Would prefer an option to an obligation. We need a stop gap. Reassess in the summer. Maybe financially it doesn't make sense to loan (loan fee might eat up some of the Miggy profit).

Well let's just assume we are skint, meanwhile our owners are bankrolling their domestic clubs to inflate the coffers of our rivals by paying stupid amounts for their second choice strikers.

One of ours goes there for about half market rate and there's an investigation???

Something stinks...

cui bono?

This will be where Al Hilal come in for Isak  bidding 20m and we get told to be greatful for being offered that much.

With how dodgy football finances are now I would not be remotely surprised

Was about to say this. As long as we are challenging for CL, no one is going to be unhappy. If we finish well I expect us to do some significant business in the summer, that should be more than enough to keep our few top performers onside, especially if we make CL.

Exactly. Let’s push on and finish strong. Could be a very exciting summer for good reasons.

McAtee would fit the bill perfectly IMO, if Man City are willing to loan him out.

Mental to say but at the moment we are in competition with them for champions league spot so that’s not going to happen

It depends on how they see him playing, he wouldn't be able to play against them but we still have games against Forest, Chelsea and Villa where City may see it beneficial in giving a greater chance to take points from those clubs

Why on earth would City allow a direct rival for a CL place improve their team?

So our owners have just authorised a 60m boost to a club who are debatably one of our biggest rivals and best chance of disrupting the shady six...either they've got some serious 4d chess going on or just want a presence in the PL. We are starting to look like a foot hold and nothing more.
