NUFC Transfer Rumours

Whatever happened to all the hype around Ousmane Diomande?

I remember he was meant to be one of the best young CB's around, tall, fast, good on the ball, loads of big clubs interested etc

Haven't heard his name mentioned in a while, just wondering if he's had a poor season and if he'd be available on the cheap..

I wonder if Murphy being so effective on his natural side is causing a bit of a conundrum for Howe with whether to bring in a right footed right winger.

I'd love to see the number of goals we've scored from crosses/passes using the natural angle.

Should be no conundrum.

We need a RW.

With European football we need more depth.

Yeah, I can still only see us going inverted but it will be nice to have Murphy as an option still. And Tino will run riot down the right like he's now doing on the other side.

Can't see us buying a right-footed RW at all, even though the point is interesting.

I’m guessing he meant the conundrum is whether to bring in a left footed winger looking to come inside or a right footer like Murphy.

Ah apologies, thumbheed  misread!

Watching the Masters, red wine and posting on here don't mix.

Newcastle are interested in Racing Genk and Greece midfielder Konstantinos Karetsas, 17, but face competition from Bayern Munich, Napoli and several other Premier League sides. (Sun), external

Meanwhile, Newcastle have sent scouts to watch Ivory Coast international Yahia Fofana, 24, at French club Angers as they prepare to strengthen their goalkeeping options. (Football Insider, external)

Contract is up in 2026 , so will not be as expensive as some of the other options.

Never seen him myself, but sounds like his stock has been on the rise and is pretty high right now.

You have to say, looking back at that transfer window in 2023 which was roundly criticised:

Tonali

Hall

Livramento

Barnes

It looks pretty fucking good now. Our transfer record is pretty outstanding since the takeover, it must be the best in the league?

Trippier

Bruno

Burn

All legends of the club now.

Isak

Botman

Tonali

Gordon

Just peak world class players (Botman can get back to that).

Hall

Livramento

Barnes

Very good first team players with insane potential in the case of the first two.

Then you are literally just looking at Wood and Targett who did a job when we were desperate and Osula who is still very young.

Not a single failure in my book. It’s outstanding.

Mitchell has a lot to live up to

Madueke I maintain is the closest, who can come inside, but equally be a direct RW as he showed against Ipswich yesterday.

One of those players that people will be underwhelmed by because of his face value stats, but I’m confident due to his high ability Howe would get a higher output from.

I'd imagine its a pretty easy choice. We have an effective right footed winger already, so get a left footed one to have more variety to mix things up.

Having players who can stretch the play by staying wide and delivering good balls into the box is a big asset, but I’d be happy enough for that to be Murphy.

A few clubs are experimenting with 3 at the back (Palace) and I think that’s in part a reaction to having inverted wingers who will be coming inside. If you have a winger who instead goes wide I think it creates an issue for those teams.

Good to have options

Isak's our only world class player.

Tonali and Botman have the talent but still have to do a bit to prove it.

Bruno G has been linked to likes of City, PSG and Barca, I would put him in the world class category.

Yes, he has limitations, but I think what he does in his position, not many can do better.

In the modern game, his metrics are off the charts.

Yeah, his stats are rather good: https://fbref.com/en/players/82518f62/Bruno-Guimaraes particularly as most of this is in a season where the majority of us would probably say he's not been at his best for a lot of it.

Even on the days where he didn't seem on it you watch the highlights and remember 'oh yeah he made that chance, he made those tackles, he started that counter attack.'
