Tbf, what were Eddie’s actual quotes relating to moving quickly?

 

Could be wrong, but he didn’t actually say ‘we need to bring players in quickly’, did he?

 

I think one of the worst things about what happened with Guehi was the fact that by the time we finally established it wasn’t happening, it was too late to move onto anything else significant.

 

For all of the apparent ’failures’ so far, the good thing is that they have been established with plenty of time to move onto something else. Could that have been what he was referring to, that we need to move quickly so we don’t have no time to move onto the next target?

Would usually say we shouldn’t, but in Trafford and Elanga, these are players Howe and the club have clearly wanted since June 2024. Don’t try one summer for them, then come back next summer just to not get the deal done.

 

Don’t think it appeases Howe one bit that we still can’t get them over the line and I fully expect him to make it known in his first interview back.

Hes been as much part if it as anyone  else. He'll know the financial situation and have been part (if not only) of deciding how much we can spend on each target.

Man City & Chelsea not only had to do early business because of CWC they also have a much bigger PSR headroom because well, they are Man City. Chelsea have sold off their womens side,  their hotels and a couple of car parks - an income stream we don’t have.

You’re talking like this is all about the last 7 weeks. Think about what they all (bar promoted teams) have done in the last 18 months compared to us. Money is clearly there to be spent now but we’re not doing it. Howe is the only reason we’re not miles behind.

Yes, in an ideal world, we'd have all new signings in for the start of preseason, but we haven't, so people need to deal with it. Like I said, nobody knows what's going on behind the scenes, and the effort the club is putting in to sign anyone.

Don’t clubs have to submit earnings by 31 March? That would include pre season and the winter window but not prize money as no competitions will have been decided?

 

From what I can see it’s the clubs that have been close to PSR breaches that are the clubs that are haggling over payment terms & the final few million in a 50M + deal.

 

We made an absolute dog’s dinner of it last time & can’t let that happen again. It would be lovely to get a Willock or a Longstaff off the books to get us increased headroom (Targett and Dubs as well please).

We couldn’t spend over the last 18 months. We even had to sell and it’s that very mess they are trying to avoid by being careful.

No one is blaming it on PSR issues  there is money to spend but it has to be spend carefully and wisely. Also you are ignoring yet again bids for Delep & Pedro who decided to go elsewhere. 
 

we’ll sign 4 or 5 players. The players we want within the budget we have. Calm down
