NUFC Transfer Rumours

Just think that's what we need.

New winger

Third striker

New leftback to compete with hall

New centreback ideally with pace

New keeper to compete with popey

A couple of new centre mids to pad the team out.

That is exactly what we need to pus in with a good chance of retaining a CL spot. Spurs, Chelsea, Manure, City, Arsenal all likely have a vastly improved season. They all have far more ability to deal with heavy schedules. Uncharacteristically poor performance gave us a head start, our exec level, recruitment and scouting hasn’t capitalised this far. Be lucky if we get a second chance, without direction easy to go the way of spurs

We need 4 or 5. Any more and you risk unsettling things too much IMO - even acknowledging we've done nowt for 2 years.

Less than 4 quality signings would be poor show.

Trafford, Elanga, CB and forward?

We’ve been competing with those “untouchable” clubs for the last 3 years despite spending very little comparatively. Maybe if we spent the money that’s now there and backed the manager we’d be able to do even better instead of just making excuses about PSR and acting like it’s a closed shop. We’ve finished 4th and 5th in the last 3 seasons, got to a final and won a trophy so it’s absolutely isn’t a closed shop.

We might be backing the manager tbf. If players choose cartel clubs because they pay more, and we aren't allowed to, there's not much we can do about that.

Elanga and Trafford sound like they’re happy to come here?

3-4 this window. Possibly 1 in January depending on our progress in all 4 competitions.

8 signings!?  We’ve EH in charge not Harry Redknapp. He’d never unsettle the squad that much in one window. Crazy thinking.

From what we've been led to believe for the last year or so, yes.

I get you mate but we've not done any business for a while.

8 is ideally what we need to have a strong squad whether that be from the free market or loan market. Kwp dcl

There’s three core we need that’s self explanatory: GK, CB, RW.

Then there’s cover for striker which is looking like a Pedro type CAM/ST.

That’s 4. Then when a CM goes (which Longstaff should), one has to come in. Then giving Hall coming back from a serious injury, Targett broken, Trippier getting old and us ideally not running Tino into the ground after his summer, we need a LB too IMO.

That’s 6 at a minimum for me. Cordero is effectively the 7th who’s out on loan and I would prefer us to sign a young CB too as future planning for post Schar. So 8 signings.

There should be no way we end this window with Longstaff / Targett on our squad registration.

Tbf I think every club has a few of these. Decent workhorse types who the club have outgrown, but they aren't the easiest to shift because their wages are higher than a younger prospect who hasn't made their mark yet.

Don’t know what we can or can’t do but going into the new season without some sort of CM added this summer is suicidal. Especially if we don’t sign a similar type of player like Pedro which lessens the burden on midfield to some degree at least. It must happen imo. We don’t do it the. It’s asking for massive problems over the season. Ideally we get rid of both Willock and Longstaff and sign one because these two really don’t offer us anything (especially not reliability as backups).

Im also not entirely convinced when it comes to Joelinton’s fitness/availability over a 50+ games season now when he’s getting older. Even without Europe Bruno got absolutely knackered.  If midfield doesn’t function properly then neither will our attack/defence.

It’s just not our managers style let alone in our budget. Hence why he looks for versatility primarily so one player becomes two or even three in reality.

Silly considering the increased schedule we have coming up.

It's either that or give Longstaff a new contract. Willock still has 2 years left I think but we'd probably look to sell him rather than renew given his recent injury record is poor.

We can't sell if no one wants to buy.

Not if they can be replaced. Longstaff is a fringe player at best and would provide pure profit. Willock is a shadow of his former self and injuries haven’t done his ability or confidence any favours. IF they could be replaced by potential let’s do it. I’m sure wor Eddie will have a plan either way.

Think that will be the main issue. They should be able to do a job for someone in the Premier but the sort of clubs that will want them won't want to pay toon wages. I think that's the same for Targett.
