NUFC Transfer Rumours

Recommended Posts

Not been too worried this summer, until about now.

To me it seems like we are a ship without a captain.

Howe and his team do their best, but no backing or support from senior management.

It’s speculations from my side, but so far this summer looks incredibly unprofessional and slow.

Hope this feeling is just something that is build by media speculations and the lack of signings, as if Isak is away and we fail in this window I am afraid other players will follow him out the door eventually and we have to do a rebuild.

Not something I look forward to with our pace & negotiation skills 😂

Which itself is an absolutely stupid way to have to handle business. £5m difference but she had to travel all that way just to get it agreed to. Fuck me, man. It’s a clown show.

Agree but at least she was willing to do whatever it took.

Oh, absolutely. But that shouldn’t have even been necessary. All comes back to the corporate structure and how there should have been a person in place in the NE who could make those decisions in a timely manner.

Do we have that person now? [emoji38]

Under Ashley there was no expectation for a transfer window. This has to go down as one of the most frustrating summers in 40 years of following this rabble.

What a wasted opportunity to push on through complete mismanagement.

We’ll be looking back at this summer in 20 years as the Elanga summer where we didn’t make the most of the our opportunities, like the Bowyer summer, Anita summer and Dalglish’s dads army summer.

I think for the whole club they need to get Wissa wrapped up by the weekend.

Considering Brentford lost Mbuemo and dont want to lose Wissa, they have no incentive to close a deal quickly and we seem intent on not giving them an incentive by low balling on the deal. If I was them I would drag this out until deadline day and add 5m per week to the price. Unless we convince them with cash they dont have to move and the player is not kicking up a fuss to make them move either.

To be fair, that could have been the extra 5m that threw us over the PSR line and forced us to sell Minteh for all we know

Eddie didn't sound very optimistic about any players coming in.

Started off with we need more options, then have to improve us or we won't sign them, then hopefully we will sign some players before the window.

The line about having to improve us is starting to grate a little bit I have to say.

Improving on the likes of Tonali, Bruno etc. is difficult, absolutely. Borderline impossible with our budgets. However improving the squad? Surely we should at the very least be aiming for players who can offer more from the bench or as rotation options than Lascelles, Willock, Osula? If we can't improve our ideal starting XI let's at least look at players who can be reliable deputies and give us some depth to cover the inevitable injury, suspension, fatigue etc.

He literally says we need depth in the squad in the quote [emoji38]

TBF I can't see anyone can show any hate towards Isak when the lack of strategy from the top is clear to see...

Liverpool arsenal Chelsea and City all done good business and we standing still...

I mean, it’s his career. He has one stab at it. He’ll want the best career he can achieve; reach the heights his potential deserves. And all that malarkey.
Thing is, you can’t share the experiences he has shared with us, receive the adoration he has received from us, and not have a bond that goes way beyond any financial contract, transcends the winning of bits of metal and the meaning he probably attributes to them.
We have, and by we I mean all associated with the club, been embroiled in something equivalent to being brothers in arms. Striving together against the odds. I don’t make the comparison lightly but it is the best comparison I can bring to mind.
At the end of his career when he reflects upon what he has done with his talent. Considers the happiness that his football ability has brought him, what will give him the most satisfaction?
It may just be that chasing success, or even worse unnecessary additional financial security, creates a shadow over whatever comes next. A shadow which comes with the benefit of hindsight, the 20:20 rear view mirror perspective that you broke something, tarnished a beautiful period of your life and for what? That extra few million that you don’t know what to do with, those extra few medals that the team would probably have won anyway?

Leaving us and in difficult circumstances for whatever petty reasons seem crucial to him and his advisors now, will create hurt throughout all of us. ‘Hatred’ may be a manifestation of this hurt for some. I hope he takes a moment to consider whether the emotional cost potentially, eventually, to himself as well as teammates and fans, is worth the benefit he imagines.

"It's not about numbers, it's about quality."

Wonder if he'll change his tune on this if we continue drawing blanks. I imagine there'll come a point where he accepts it does become more about numbers, because heading into the season with a reduced squad will harm us.

Pretty much sounds like what we're all thinking.

They'll keep grafting away until the deadline.

Yup, I thought the key bits in there were the bit about prices being high and the fact we have  multiple players across multiple positions that are being looked at.

I think it is likely we push right till the deadline, looking to make a move when fees come down for some of the options we're considering.
