FWIW id rather we made a phone call to try and get Ivan Toney back over here and bring in a younger potential filled striker so we improve the room in general. Its a world cup year so if he was returning this could be the time.

No chance he's leaving Saudi until the end of the upcoming season.

He has to be out of the country for 2 years before comeback or HMRC willbend him over.

That's why Jordan Henderson went to Ajax for a year.

The Big Boss is in town for 24hrs and the wheels are starting to turn. I'm hoping for two more (not including Ramsdale) by this time next week........and Isak out the door.

Wilson, Longstaff out

Elanga, Ramsdale in

I thought we will be much further ahead in transfer end of July. and thats before all the Isak drama which adds an extra level of shit to this.

there is lot of money to spend just based on the offers we couldnt close like for Trafford, Delap, Pedro, Ekitike etc, thats before the big money we might see from Isak which should be top top record deal.

we simply need to work hard to get targets in now until start of PL to lift the mood otherwise if we leave it for last week of the window each target will just cost more as we will be desperate and clubs aware we have shit load of Isak money to spend.

What if Saudi continue paying his wages? Does that still class as him 'working' in this country?

I would look at French league. Botman, Guimaraes came from there and both turned out to be great with 35/45m range. or the NL Eredivisie. likes of Timber, Kudus are not bad imports to the PL. Antony not so much but he has been mismanaged at Man Utd maybe like many at that team.

Surely the Greek would be the one folk would want out first?

Because we theoretically paid £20m for him and no fucker in their right mind will give us anywhere near that much for him, we're just going to be trying to loan him out every season until his contract expires or someone gives us a few million for him in a couple of years time

We wouldn't have a complete disaster if we didn't sign anyone else tbf. It'd just be another intensely frustrating season given the top quality manager we have and the handful of class players we've got (albeit we'd be keeping Ng fingers crossed they all stayed fit)

Not signing anyone else after random would be a complete disaster mind.

We’re a bit hamstrung with the Isak situation. If he’s definitely leaving it would have been better to bite the bullet and offload him early in the window, at the moment it’s hard to make decisions on players when we don’t know how much money is available.

We’ve strengthened GK and significantly strengthened RW, while slightly weakening midfield rotations and back up CF. If we bring in Wissa and a better midfielder the Longstaff (Gallagher?) we go into next season with a stronger squad then last year. Bring in a quality CB such as Scalvini and suddenly it’s a great transfer window.

I think those you mentioned are gone, given Howe stressed that the player has to come at the right price, which means we simply won’t pay higher than the value we offered.

In an ideal world yes, but given what we reportedly paid for him (£20m), we'd annoyingly need a fee of at least £16m for him in order not to take an FFP loss--which I can't see anyone stumping up. Sale of Dubravka would be near enough pure profit FFP-wise though. Shite that we have to think in these terms.

What's the Pope PSR situation if someone gave £10-12m for instance?

International goalkeeper from a PL team has to be worth at least £25m to a Saudi team considering the other fees being hoyed around.  Wor Vlad gets a nice retirement fund too.

Think we paid about £10m for him 3 years ago and he signed a 4 year deal, so 7.5m (2.5m a year for 3 years) has amortised off his book value meaning anything we sell him for beyond the remaining 2.5m book value will be profit for FFP calculations.

Isn't that what we paid for him? So that is few million profit, but Dubravka is as much just by selling him for 3-4 million. If we get that from Saudi Pro League or somewhere...

Aye, especially considering he got loads of CL experience as well while playing in Portugal. No brainer for any ambitious Saudi team.

He’s already knocked back a move to KSA. Happy to sit here racking up the wages and attend Panathanaikos games.

Wouldn't be surprised if this is the one we do.

Would hate that tbh, we need a senior keeper even if Pope's contract runs out next year without us renewing and we miss the last opportunity to maximise his value.
