NUFC Transfer Rumours

Recommended Posts

We keep talking about Liverpool Man U and Chelsea but Man City also buggered us in January with buying Khusanov and Juma Bah from under our noses. That would have sorted RCB but also given Mitchell a small win which could have built momentum.

it’s honestly been a nightmare two years from recruitment. we will struggle to make top ten this year.

Our strategy isn't fit for purpose.

What is a fact is that there's an entire generation of world class players coming through every single year.

We engaged Sesko, Pedro and Ekitike 2 years ago which is exactly what we still should be doing now.

The idea that theres only a small pool of players who could improve us is nonsense and we're paying heavily for that single mindedness.

I doubt Nickson’s the problem, like. He’ll have swathes of players he’s high on.

Yes I don’t understand why he’s getting slated. He isn’t negotiating the deals.

He probably is, though?

He’s head of recruitment, who do you think is negotiating if not him?

I hear you man, like Liverpool I'm a destination poster

Stupidly aside sorry for being harsh, I meant what I said your a canny poster and I don't want to see you go on hiatus.

It's just I've heard this path isn't linear said so many times and it always strikes me as blind optimism especially as we haven't closed the financial gap and this window is really reinforcing how important it is we do that.

Be as harsh as you want, that's not why I went on hiatus.

For me, there's incremental improvements being made to the club all the time, but we've been well and truly put on our place this summer through naivity and a lack of leadership. For me, we've been shopping in the wrong markets from the off.

I hear you, I think maybe my issue is I've been sold number 1 and that's the metric im  going to hold us too no matter what.

Obviously things have improved that goes without saying, I make no mention of it though because I'm writing these from my desk surrounded by people

It’s been Reuben, hasn’t it?

I doubt it’s solely Reuben. I would be shocked if Nickson doesn’t play a big hand in negotiating deals.

He was there for Isak, Tonali, Bruno etc. it’s been his job in the past.

I can't ever see us getting to number one with the current rules in play. I'd take regular European qualification and the odd domestic trophy though, perhaps I aim too low

To be fair, I can’t think of a single player signed by any club outside of the top 6 that I would have liked us to sign.

(this is probably because I haven’t been watching much football and I know maybe a grand total of 10 players that don’t play for NUFC, but still.)

I don't think you do, it's just I want to hold those accountable for the claims and bluster.

Your approach will lead to fair less disappointment and annoyance

Yeah that was what I thought. Nickson is still a good scout imo

I expected a 1995/96 window. A Ginola (Elanga), Hislop (Trafford), a Barton (RCB eg Guehi), a Ferdinand (Pedro or Delap), a Batty (Paqueta or Gallagher) and an Asprilla (Sesko or Ekitike) to make us into proper title contenders.

I got the Bowyer window.

Guessand at Villa (*if it happens) is somebody I would have loved Newcastle to take a punt on.

I said this before. We need better scouters. Was Sesko really worth all this hassle just to not even get him? A good scouting group can save you money and time instead of getting caught in pointless bidding wars that we will lose because we cannot offer 200k plus in wages.

With PSR and FFP we simply cannot be doing recruitment like this. We have to work harder and smarter than the big six clubs when it comes to finding and signing players. I feel they are trying to act like one when we still are not there yet. Even with UCL, PSR is not going to let us spend like the cartel 6.

The thing is, our scouts could be great, I don’t know either way, but they will do hundreds of reports a season, and have lists of players they would want us to sign.

Once the reports are turned in they don’t have any power beyond that. They don’t make the final decision.

I don't even know what to think anymore regarding our approach and targets. It's plain to see that something is completely off behind the scenes, missing out on 1 or 2 of your targets, ok, other people will be interested, but every target bar Elanga, we haven't got hold of.

I think the is a fine line which clearly has been pretty well emphasised, between ambition and realism. I feel we may have tipped too much in to the ambition category, not saying there is anything particularly wrong with that but the higher the ambition, the more competition, and at this time, would that realism be 100%?

Feels like we have blown this window in a huge, huge way. This should have been possibly one of the most exciting since the takeover and a real chance to kick on as a club and get things right for a busy campaign from August. Yes, that requires a deal of ambition I understand that, but the warning signs should have been there when we started getting prolonged answers on players and other teams moved on to our targets.

It's been pretty shambolic and is more than likely going to severely hamper the season ahead. Really not good enough.
