NUFC Transfer Rumours

Recommended Posts

Regardless of the Isak stuff or the various opinions about who's fault it is, the target lists, how we've operated etc. allowing ourselves to go into the start of the season without a fit established striker is a fucking disgrace.

All summer to get someone better than Wilson and we're 10 days away from the season starting with nobody even close to coming in. Hundreds of players in the world who'd be an obvious upgrade and we've chosen not to act on it. Absolute negligence.

Wissa and Thiaw (or another CB) and we look much better. With the money saved on Ramsdale and Thiaw versus top targets, we should have decent headroom for a CM.

The window's been a disappointment and somewhat humiliating to be frank, but the above would be solid enough and raises the floor of the squad pretty significantly still, while giving us room to bolster again in January. It's worth noting that the amount of spend we've seen from 5 of the Cartel 6 this window has been unprecedented; I can't see this carrying over into the next couple of windows. God help us if it does [emoji38]

Yeah, I don't think I’ve ever known a window where the top few clubs have gone so crazy with money. Guess that’s what PSR is intended to allow.

Yep, and no-one questioning any of it. Just lauding them and celebrating how much they've spent.

The striker situation, you can give a bit of leeway. Isak uncertainty, turned down again and again. Fine

We've had all summer to sign a centre half and we haven't. It's so fucking poor like. We should have had a list of targets and it should have been done ages ago. Guehi, Scalvini, Thiaw, whoever.

Yeah the CB should have been sorted and a CM as its not as difficult as signing an elite striker.

I'd have been happy with Xhaka tbh for a CM to see us through a couple of seasons.

Could really do with a CM as well imo

That's being kind, writing's been on the wall for Wilson for the best part of 2 years.

There are players out there. Trippier and Bruno joined us when we were 19th. Botman turned down AC Milan when we had no European football.

It's such a massive failure on a number of levels. From scouting and the players targeted to strategy, negotiation and timing. Talk of Jamie Reuben doing the negotiating FFS.

We'll never know the true reasons for sure, as to why this window has been a complete disaster. That's almost as frustrating as the window itself.

The belief that we are the next something has dissipated since then.  The imminent plans for new training ground they were shown to reenforce that has been shown to be a lie.

The likes of ourselves, Villa and Forest made them shit their pants. The likes of Bournemouth and Brighton doing well and getting results against the big sides undoubtedly made the cunts panic that the competitive gap was narrowing.

It's a fucking travesty.

And other clubs have done nothing. Should be pretty hectic August

10 days out between picking either Osula or Gordon to make do up front. I know the window doesn't close till the end of August, but to be in this state a week and a half before the first game is pretty shocking.

I think Gordon is starting the first game up front no matter what happens now. Maybe Wissa since he's experienced in the PL, but otherwise Gordon.

That would be strange if true since we've gone from strength to strength in the league and qualified for the CL again. Would be surprised if new signings are annoyed by the training ground announcement. Would be surprised if they even know about it.

Yeah feels like the club needs a proper review on the transfer strategy as been shit for last 3 or 4 of the windows and strong chance we go into this season ill equipped for all the games with no striker, creaking defence and less midfield options than last season.

Plus points I guess are that I think Elanga and Ramsdale will prove to be good signings, Hall being back and Gordon seemingly fired up plus Tonali and Bruno still running midfield.

Defence really worries me with Schar and Burn only reliable options as does up front if we don't have 2 strikers. We are still better than a lot of teams in the league but no chance of getting near Europe or competing in champs league if don't strengthen next few weeks.

Done a very good job. They earmarked all of our recruits post takeover - no one has any issue with those players. The difference now is we now can't get the deals done because they're also supposed to magically become a recruitment team, when it's not their job.

This is what I am confused about. Is it just bad negotiation skills? I find that hard to believe because if we were able to offer more in wages than Manchester United, then we would have a much easier time.

Or are they targeting the wrong type of players they have scouted? Are there more realistic options for us to pursue?

We were never constantly in bidding wars like this before.

Ramos seems a good player but I’m always a bit wary of players for whom joining us would be a clear step down, which going from PSG to us clearly is.

Obviously depends on the mentality of the individual players but in a vacuum the lad Aghehowa from Porto seems like the type of deal we should be pursuing next.

In the meantime, Isak should be very much being told he’s going nowhere any time soon and needs to sort himself out and be on the pitch at Villa park in ten days. We can revisit him leaving at the end of the month if we have managed to bring in a suitable replacement.

I like Ramos and agree on Samu, I’d definitely be looking at him

Chelsea wanting £80m for Jackson when they signed Delap to replace him for £30m is laughable. Release clause or not.

Like it or not it’s good business

I don't think it's complicated or mysterious.

We have a resource issue at the corporate level and the impact of that has been compounded by an unforgiving market structured to benefit the cartel.

If we had a slick operation we'd have probably been able to secure Longstaff's replacement and future-proof CB by now.

However, I imagine we're probably still hitting brick walls in terms of the striker search. We need quality but we're not allowed to buy it, so the talk of us being a disgrace that we've not done so continues to be grossly unfair imo.
