Not sure where we go from here, it’s increasingly likely we start the season with Gordon or Osula up front. That in itself is a failure. Mental we are in this position given what we achieved last season.

Its completely shambolic we find ourselves in this position.

I'm struggling to get my head around how bad this window has been.

Got absolutely no enthusiasm for the season at all. Unbelievable considering how we ended last season.

I feel you, it has completely taken the shine off what was an epic season for us, dispiriting and depressing and I can only imagine how those in the club feel right now. We need a big win and a few to follow or it's going to be a tough watch.

i don't understand what we are looking for tbh. The profile of Sesko Ekitike and Jackson are all different. We are definitely doing transfers based on gut feeling

Our business so far has been a combination of vibes and inshallah. [emoji38]

It’s not mental when you look at what Villa had to do last year despite qualifying for the champions league. They had to lose some great players in order to pay the PSR bill.

PSR is doing exactly what it’s been implemented to do - keep the upstarts like us under the boot of the big 6. It’s fucking nauseating.

Of all the Isak replacements we’ve been linked with Jackson is the one mostly likely to replace his goals. He’s fast, strong, and skilful, he just needs some refining. I doubt we go for both him and Wissa with it being an AFCON year.

Eh, I'm not sure about that. He's not strong and he's not skilful imo. He is quick though and does seem to press. Other than I don't see much else.

Fuck up this window an  the CL campaign. fail to hit top 5 again and I think we'll be struggling to keep the likes of Tonali and Tino next summer.

Even Eddie reconsiders his future.

It seems that we're still not able to compete with the Big Six when it comes to a transfer battle. They pay higher salaries and have a much better track record of success.

Jackson is a talented player who would benefit from good coaching. He represents a bit of a risk but we have no choice but to continue gambling if we're going to progress.

If we’ve got to sell Isak, then Jackson certainly wouldn’t be the end of the world.

We’re in a really fucking odd predicament like.

Through the great work of Eddie and the players over the last few years we’re now a team that people expect to be seeing in and around the Top 6 every year, but every other metric (wage bill, commercial revenue etc) doesn’t align, and likely won’t align for many years.

So, when the takeover just happened we were seen as an exciting next step for a lot of players a couple of years ago… the “best of the rest” option in the PL… we are now the “worst of the best” option. We’re trying to compete for players that can play for any of the big 6 teams, most of whom can offer exactly what we can in terms of competition (except in Man Utd’s case), a longer history of success, the chance to maintain that success and guarantee success in the near future, bigger wages, bigger signing on fees, living in London etc etc etc. Essentially… we’re promising them an ambition of our destination, when others are already there, enjoying the sunshine.

I don’t fault our recruitment team for being ambitious… I’d rather be in the conversations with players like Sesko/Ekitike than not… but it’s been a brutal summer of essentially “putting us in our place”.

I still have no doubts that we will pivot to bulking out the squad and still believe we’ll sign 3-4 more players this month, but in terms of drastically improving our first team, I genuinely don’t see how we do that at this stage unless it’s by taking a massive risk on an unproven player… something that I’m not sure whether Eddie would be willing to do.

What we drastically need is for the CEO and DoF positions to be filled properly, and a concerted effort made between PIF and the club to bend every fucking PSR rule / loophole available to them moving forward to accelerate the project, else it will stall.

Or we need to get Nick deMarco to work his magic on the PL.

I agree with this. However, it's more about the strategy or the lack of. We're less than two weeks from the season and still have holes all over the squad.

This is such a stupid tweet man. We didn't get any of them as they had better options.

Id expect a director of football was in charge of recruitment to have a very good idea of who wants to join and get stuff over the line. This window has been an absolutely failure.

It's growing pains. Thanks to Eddie, we've quickly transformed into a Champions League club without the infrastructure or cash to behave like one.

As we said last season it was never going to be a linear upwards trajectory, there were going to be bumps in the road.

I'm just growing so weary with the sport in general I'm not sure if I'll stick around to us at our best.

Wissa plays for DR Congo, Jackson for Senegal. AFCON means we'd be without either, if we sign both.

So basically the only difference is we'd have skipped one or two of those options and been working on deals for worse players sooner than we are now. I'll say again, everyone else is still available. If we should be after, say, Kalimuendo - he's still at Rennes now.

I think your a cracking poster but I hate this post

How does a linear or none linear trajectory work when a clear glass ceiling is in place.

Unless something changes i imagine we yoyo between European qualifications challengers to slightly below. Obviously it's hard to predict as the information we have is incomplete but for me this is far more of a realistic outlook than just hoping things improve.

Wissa has become mandatory. I’d like to get Randal Muani initially on loan to give us the necessary cover. Whilst retaining Isak. Ramos is another good option.

All is not lost.

Ramos Isak Wissa

Ramos Muani Isak

Muani Isak Wissa

No, if you have a director of football who is competent i would expect we sign players who want to sign for us as everyone else seems to do.

Let's be frank, our transfer issues in this window are outliers for the rest of the league.

We’re not getting 2 plus Isak, man.
