Ramos cost PSG 80 million Euros, and is probably on a hefty wedge. He's probably the most "established" of the overseas strikers we've been (tenuously) linked with. Not sure if we can afford him at all.

They paid €65 million for him and are looking for €50 million apparently. We should be all over that.

Thought it was 65+15? The 15 must not have been realised. I'd be all over 50 mil, wages depending - he's a 1 in 2 striker even when not starting most of his games for them.

Yeah, you might be right there. He's 24 and has done okay at PSG. At €50 million it doesn't feel like the kind of risk Sesko might be.

No links to them. I work with Joel Bland who for all the mocking of him 100% has good sources. Have indirect links with Craig Hope too and could try and have direct links but haven't tried talking to him.

is there a chance he thinks 'fuck it, might as well have a good year so every club in Europe wants me, I'll get better wages etc'

We can definitely afford him. He’ll cost less in wages and in transfer fees than Sesko, significantly less I’d imagine

We don't even know if he's on our list, or whether he would be open to coming here. It's a very tenuous link at the moment.

Plus, he's a PSG player. If he'd come cheap, then Liverpool, Manu, Man City, Arsenal, Chelsea and Tottenham will swoop in immediately after our bid, match it, and Romano will just say "He ONLY wants [not Newcastle]". Our previous strategy of signing players from Lyon, Sociedad and etc worked for us as we are seen as a "step up" in this regard. PSG to us is a step down.

 

I doubt the rumours in any case. We'd have to see where we go after the Sesko fiasco. Issue a "hands-off" on Isak or move down the "list" (which I am convinced was Pedro, Ekitike, Delap and nee one else, not even Sesko).

the combination of Amanda gone, Eales has serious health problems to be able to manage the ship, DoF just left right before the window (also didnt do anything in his time here), Howe's transfer committee not really being on elite DoF level, compete power vacuum which may have cost us  lot this summer.

 

we need to save whatever we can next 3.5 weeks, as we do need numbers in and some quality too.

 

with Isak, now its clear to me, he cannot be sold even at 150m. if Liverpool really wants him make a deal with PIF to offer 125m for Nunez and then Liverpool can offer 225m for Isak. maybe that a price to accept.

This is most likely for me, we can't possibly be planning to let Isak go if we aren't signing a top striker. No offence to Yoan.

Id imagine it also becomes difficult to get sign off on high fees internally for us as well tbh. 

 

Doesn't reflect well when your asking to spend big money on secondary targets.

That BBC thing has three strikers in midfield and assumes we were seriously in for Cunha, Huijsen and Mbuemo. By this logic Huijsen also "rejected" Liverpool.

 

File it as another example of how "impartial" the BBC actually is, versus what it loves to claim to be.
