NUFC Transfer Rumours

Recommended Posts

I do think we need to sign three strikers, and I think that was our intention too given that we offered Wilson a contract on these terms.

Vardy would have been a good realistic choice for the third striker had it not been for the fact that I doubt our management would want Rebekah Vardy anywhere near our club.

What do you think he’s good at? Isn’t it at least a little instructive that not even one PL team has been linked despite his “bargain” price?

I mean this reduced price has only been available for the last week and most top ten clubs already have their striker signed.

Hojlund, 20 years old and on back of first season in Seria A with 9 in 32 (G/A every 150 mins).

Sesko, Samu, Delap, Etitike. We've all wanted and bigged up, and were not much different around same age. If we were linked with Hojlund in 2023, I'm sure the feeling would be it's a great move to make. Just like with every signing, need to try and seperate what they're playing in now and look at that fee/what they could bring. Is Hojlund current dip vastly different to Isak when we moved? Not saying it's remotely the same level of player, but Hojlund current time at a dysfucntional Man Utd has to be disregarded when talking about him as a player.

Thing with Hojlund is - our current Technical Director is literally the man who scouted him for Atalanta, and signed him, and subsequently was around when he was sold to ManU.

If there's a chance to sign Hojlund now, Suds is the man who literally knows (on paper at least), what his attributes are and what he can or cannot do. If we're not interested, it is with Suds' input.

Doesnt matter how dysfunctional your club is when you're missing multiple chances from 1 yard out

Can't sign 1 let alone 3, pal! [emoji38]

Any ball into Hojlund's feet with his back to the defender is an instant turnover 99% of the time.

We had a similar issue with Chris Wood when he was here, and it wasn't even as bad with Wood.

I think these strikers are best served with someone playing off of them as a second striker or as a number 10, in order to limit any hold up or link up play.

Wood had this at Burnley with Ashley Barnes and now with Gibbs-White at Forest. When he was at Newcastle he didn't have that luxury due to the way we are setup in a 4-3-3 and he suffered for it.

Hojlund would be a disaster mainly because of this IMO. He's just not the right fit.

For someone who's 22 going 23, there's value in there for a £5m loan and £30m option to buy if you get him at that. 2 years of data in Prem would point to where his game can be used better for us etc. Just you need to balance it out with, as much as Eddie can improve players, is he too broken on confidence in this country to pull things around.

10 minutes with Keegan would sort that right out.

Id rather have took a chance on Geussand for 30m or Kalimuendo for 26m but they just slipped on by

Both players I liked the look of but I can see why Howe would have preferred the sure thing of Wissa. Provided we could actually bloody sign him.

Bayern confirmed they are not signing Woltemade this year.

He's as close to Isak that I have seen so far in terms of style. At 75M Euro I would think he offers a very good alternative. I don't understand the silence around him/us.

I’m going to have YT this lad as what I’ve seen of him in the Euros he was more like Chris Wood/Peter Crouch than Isak in terms of style

Does this mean we can expect a link in the Telegraph by the end of the day?

Not sure what to believe. All reports have been Wissa will happen, but slightly more negative today. Not sure about Ramos. Fox in the box, but not very strong on anything else. Been warming more towards Strand Larsen lately. Is a handful, and good in the box. If Woltemade is realistic we should go all in for him.

Related to Hojlund and some other targets, for me you cannot separate the signing from the club making it. Hojlund has been a disaster because he was dropped into a fucking cesspool with no consistent coaching, constant turmoil, fan unrest, etc. There's a reason why so many of their signings - pretty much all of them - went to shit. They weren't all shitty signings. They were signings in a shitty situation and had little chance to succeed. Look at Chelsea's array of wonder talents who arrived and immediately struggled.

Take, for example, Joelinton. Big signing, lots of money, etc. Dropped into a shithole with fuck-all for a manager and no idea how to use him, fans on him immediately b/c he's an example of how inept the manager/club are. You get some stability around the club, new ownership, new manager, better environment and ideas, and the guy turns into a bargain.

The opposite is true of a club like Brighton, for example. Very clear identity, very clear method of using players, very stable situation where a player can generally thrive and end up much improved in a season or two. Would Baleba, Mitoma, Caicedo, Trossard, Mac Allister, etc have made the impact they did had they signed in a situation like Hojlund or Big Joe? Doubtful. You cannot separate the signing from the team signing them.

THIS IS NOT AN ENDORSEMENT OF SIGNING HOJLUND BTW. I didn't rate him before and still don't.
