Yes, or buy a cheaper player - old or young- as a stop gap. The Real Madrid/Joselu route when they knew they had Mbappe coming in.

Kick the can down the road until next year and just accept we fucked up this summer. Do not be spending £60m on players you never wanted, regardless of how much they want to come.

also @Kid Icarus, perfect summary a few posts above.

Yes… plug a gap cheaply. Plan properly for January and summer…  🤞🏻

Joelinton (if PIF buy him, but then we can’t book that PSR I don’t think?).

We can book it as Premier League PSR, but will only be allowed to book market value with UEFA’s squad cost cap

I think that a club without a proper management team (no DOF or CEO), being knocked back several times this summer and people being forced into unnatural roles is leading to some less than ideal circumstances.

I don't know the inner workings of the club, because there's a human element at play here that I'm not privy to. But personally I think the best thing to do is to buy one striker, tell Isak he is going nowhere and restock once the dust settles and hopefully the management is more like it should be.

It just seems like a bad idea to spend 100m on two strikers who on the face of it have a somewhat limited ceiling. But I do know very little as I have pointed out many times, but reading between the lines the idea of buying Wissa and Larsen doesn't seem like a good one for the reasons I pointed to.

No way do JSL and Wissa go for 100 million. More like 130-150 with the Isak/Saudi tax added on.

The long term forward conundrum is an intriguing one.

The market for strikers is small, so unless you stumble up on a "market opportunity" (Isak, Pedro, Delap) you're going to pay through the nose, whether that's for the best up and coming European talent (Ekitike, Sesko, Woltemade) or Premier League proven players (Jackson, Larsen).

The alternative could be to gamble on the striker, but bring in your goal scorer elsewhere. Last season Liverpool played with Jota up front and Arsenal, Havertz, but both had exceptional talents elsewhere in attack. This isn't uncommon across Europe.

The way we're currently set up does lend itself more to the traditional big man, but with strikers in such short supply, we're likely going to have to overpay or rejig the attack to find our goals elsewhere.

If we bought Mainoo Miley would have to be considering his options like. Don't think we are in for him personally.

Different type of player, Mainoo is a 8 while Miley is probably best suited as a 6. If Willock still can't stay fit or far from his best then cash in on him next window or so.

You could probably get away with Gordon as a "CF" in the sense Havertz was if he improved his shooting/finishing but our LW would have to be an absolute dynamo - Raphina, Leao, Barcola (not there yet in goal scoring) type who would run the show from that position ala Salah.

Are Wissa and Larsen the only strikers out there?  Got to be loads that have more ability that we could go for - surely !!!   Just get on Football Manager - that'll tell ya

It’ll be horrific if the club spend 110 million on Wissa and Larsen like. In the world of PSR too ffs

Horrific? If they both score 15 goals this season i don’t see how that‘s horrific 🤷‍♂️
