NUFC Transfer Rumours

KDB, Beckham, Trent - all did the same.  It’s the strikers job to get on the end of them.  He’s Xa is still double his actual assists I think meaning players are getting on the end and missing.

And the 3 you mentioned offer way more than simply cross the ball - it’s the ability to pass, vision, read play etc

Top level as in PL? I highly doubt it unless Norwich come up and he makes the nostalgic move there

Remember how Longstaff was the solution to our midfield balance? He’s nowhere near the Leeds XI now - once you’ve extracted every ounce from players like these - they are only going one way, because in large parts they are limited

Yeah PL. He'll be a squad player for a bottom 10 club with his experience and versatility. Brighton stuff their squad with experience like this - Dunk, Milner, Gross, Welbeck and they contribute.

In this current day climate, Murphy's a leader and we're going to need that.

His crossing is top class, not much argument there. It's just when he has to carry the ball more than 5 yards that he becomes a liability.

Most of us criticise Howe for being too loyal to players and the club not being good sellers. Then once someone correctly says cash in on Murphy this season, the forum has dozens of posts why we should keep him. I love Murphy but if anyone offers £15m I'd snap their hand off. Maybe even £10m-£12m.

We'd get next nothing for him though.

In a summer where Trippier, Schar and maybe even Pope leave. I dare say his presence, leadership and actual love of the club will be needed behind the scenes.

How many 31 year olds do you know being sold for 10-15m?

The game's changing and players like Murphy will stand out as they have a level of technique these newer players don't. Who'd have seen Danny Welbeck having 12 goals in 2026? He couldn't get 12 goals in 2016. But his experience and know how put him in scoring positions in this new age of football.

For every Welbeck there's a Wissa or Wilson. I think he is the exception.

In my view we need a full reset this summer and to shift loads of players. I'm OK with losing likes of Murphy, Pope, Trippier, Burn/Schar, Willock, Osula, even Joelinton if Tonali stays. Tino as he he wants away it seems. But others may be happy to keep 80%-90% of the squad.

I'm not, I'm still pissed off from Sunday and from losing 4 of last 5 home games. And dropping 22 points from winning positions. This team peaked on that amazing day on 16th March 2025 and we need to clear the decks for the next reincarnation of the team.

Not like we have a giant we could get in the box, who also happens to be an attack minded player.

If only we did... 😄

Who much like our similarly sized defender, isn’t actually great at attacking headers

I see what you're saying. Do a Chelsea. Sell all the experience. Working well for them...

Look, we aren't going to agree on this. You want a back line of Pope, Trippier, Schar, Burn, Hall next season. I want young hungry players with pace whose career is ahead of them and can be improved with coaching from Howe, or his replacement if he goes. I'd keep either Burn or Schar.

We have different views on the way forward, its a forum. That's what its all about.

I have Chelsea but they are World Club champions which earned them £100m last summer and they will be in Europe next season, maybe CL. Plus, they have fucking brilliant accountants 😀

Surely we keep Murphy around for the time being?

I think he’s that type of character that Howe will want to stick around

Indeed. Think the fans are just as bad when it's a player they are fond of.

I can't fathom why we'd hold on to Murphy past this summer. He's now 31 and going into the last year of his contract.

Got a nice cross in the final third, but other than that there's nothing else really. If we can't find a better player to bring in to be more of a challenge and possibly even force Elanga into more of a secondary option then the club is in big trouble.

My completely uninformed, based on nothing guess as to who of note will be out.

Willock, Trippier, Schar, Livramento, Tonali, Gordon, Murphy, Osula, Pope.

Burn will be back, the team will look for younger players, and hope Eddie knows how to develop young talent. Our academy is a mess.

Last time I'll post this, promise. But if we let 3 star players go we are fucked. Completely the wrong strategy.

If three star players go then it means we won’t have had a choice. We won’t be actively trying to flog them, clubs will come for them and the players will decide they’re off. It’s not about what we want, it’s just a real possibility.

We can't possibly sanction the exit of 3 key players. I know the player power argument but we'll have to just explain the best we can that they are under contract and we need them to contribute to next season. That's what they all signed up for and almost nobody can say they really performed this year.

I agree with you FWIW, but it will be interesting to see how that plays out when the rubber meets the road.

There's still 7 games left, if we have a barnstorming finish to the season it might settle a few with wandering eyes.

Aye, would be a terrible look, even worse if they all go to another premier league club.

Agreed.

You just become a Brentford/Brighton then. Capable of good seasons but everyone knows their best performers each season move onto better things.

No matter how much of a 'big club' we'd think we are, you sell your best players every summer and you're in that mid table sellers club league.
